Centre seeks apology from Akbar Lone for raising 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogan

The Centre on Monday told the Supreme Court that it wants National Conference leader Mohd Akbar Lone to apologise for raising Pakistan Zindabad' slogan in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in 2018.

Lone is the lead petitioner challenging the abrogation of Article 370 that accorded special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

India giving voice to 'voiceless' Global South at G20: Union Minister Lekhi

Election Commission team visits Bhopal to review preparations for MP Assembly polls

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar along with Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel reached Bhopal on Monday to review the preparations for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections.

The elections are scheduled to be held later this year. The commission, comprising the CEC and the two election commissioners reached Bhopal for their 3-day visit and were welcomed at the Raja Bhoj Airport by Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan, tweeted the Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh.

G20 Summit: These Delhi Metro Station gates will remain closed from Sept 8-10

In order to maintain foolproof security arrangements during the G20 Summit to be held in Delhi from September 9 to 10, the Delhi Police metro unit asked the Chief Security Commissioner to close some metro station gates that open towards the VVIPS Route, venue of Summit from September 8 to 10.

In a letter, DCP Metro G. Ram Gopal Naik mentioned that in 39 stations action needs to be taken while Supreme Court, Janpath, Bhikaji Cama Place, Khan Market and Dhaula Kuan have been marked as 'Sensitive' stations.

Four astronauts return to Earth in SpaceX capsule to wrap up six-month station mission

Four astronauts returned to Earth early Monday after a six-month stay at the International Space Station.

Their SpaceX capsule parachuted into the Atlantic off the Florida coast. Returning were NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Warren Woody Hoburg, Russia's Andrei Fedyaev and the United Arab Emirates' Sultan al-Neyadi, t he first person from the Arab world to spend an extended time in orbit.

Bengal: Gold biscuits worth Rs 8.5 cr recovered near B'desh border; 2 smugglers held

The Border Security Force and Director of Revenue Intelligence recovered 14.296 kg of gold biscuits valued at Rs 8.5 crore from a house in West Bengal's Nadia district bordering the India-Bangladesh border.

The BSF said two persons, including the owner of the house, were arrested in this connection.

Car catches fire in Maharashtra's Thane; 7 members of family escape unhurt

Seven members of a family had a narrow escape when a car in which they were travelling caught fire in Maharashtra's Thane district, civic officials said on Monday.

The car was completely charred following the incident which took place at around 10 pm on Mumbra bypass when the family members were on way towards Thane city, local civic body's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.
