Maharashtra govt asks police to visit applicant's home, if needed, for passport verification
The Maharashtra home department has issued an order asking police officials to visit the residence of a passport applicant, "if required, before clearing verification of the applicant's address.
The aim is to prevent illegal immigrants and anti-nationals from obtaining an Indian passport, as per the government order issued on Monday.
The preface of the order pointed out that central agencies have found organised gangs involved in issuing fake Aadhaar and PAN cards to illegal foreign immigrants. These gangs use residential addresses from north-eastern states, it said.
Lookout circular issued against ex-Punjab finance minister Manpreet Badal
A lookout circular (LOC) has been issued against former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal, who has been booked in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of a property in Bathinda, a top official of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said on Tuesday.
The LOC was issued on Monday after teams of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau conducted raids at the residence of Badal, who joined the BJP after quitting the Congress in January, in Muktsar to nab him.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against Badal and five others in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of a property in Bathinda.

UP: Mulayam Singh's statue installed 'without permission' at SP's Hardoi office removed
A six-foot-tall statue of late Samajwadi Party (SP) patron Mulayam Singh Yadav installed at the party office here allegedly without prior permission was removed after a notice from the Nagar Palika Parishad, officials said on Tuesday.
The statue was installed on a platform at the SP office near the Nagar Palika Parishad office by district president Virendra Yadav.
Taking note of the statue, the civic body issued a notice to Yadav on September 23 and also pasted it at the entrance of the SP office. According to the notice, the party was given 24 hours to take down the statue, failing which it would face action.

Goa's Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has been admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) near here after he complained of uneasiness, a family member said on Tuesday.
The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader complained of uneasiness when he was in his office at Porvorim in North Goa on Monday, his younger brother Deepak Dhavalikar told PTI.
He was immediately referred to the state-run GMCH where doctors diagnosed that he was suffering from low sugar level. His condition is stable, the minister's brother added.

NISHAD party's Facebook page hacked, FIR lodged
The Facebook page of the NISHAD party has been hacked and its name changed to 'Nishad Party (The Show Travel)' by the hackers. An FIR has been registered in the matter, according to police.
The hackers also changed the display picture of the page and according to a post shared on September 19, it has been rebranded with a "new look and name".
NISHAD party president Sanjay Nishad registered a complaint at Gutampalli police station here on September 25 alleging that his party's Facebook page had been hacked. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the IT Act, police said on Tuesday.

Ahead of Shardiya Navratri, in a step towards women empowerment, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all police senior officials that a woman police officer should also be given charge of an additional police station.
Chief Minister Yogi emphasized the need to assign a dedicated team of skilled and diligent police personnel to support these women SHOs. All police superintendents and commissioners are expected to take prompt action to ensure compliance with this order.
The Chief Minister gave these instructions on Monday during one of his unprecedented initiatives, where, for the first time in the state, the Chief Minister simultaneously communicated with all the SHOs, circle officers, police captains, police commissioners, IG Range and ADG Zone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute 51,000 appointment letters under Rozgar Mela on Tuesday through video conferencing. He will also address these appointees on the occasion.
PM Modi will distribute these appointment letters to newly inducted recruits in Government departments and organisations, a release from Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.
The Rozgar Mela will be held at 46 locations across the country.
The recruitment is taking place across central government departments as well as state governments and UTs.
