Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Friday confirmed that party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will attend a meeting of the top Opposition leaders convened by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, to mobilise the opposition ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Talking to ANI, KC Venugopal said, "Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will attend the opposition meeting in Patna..." He further said that it is high time to have unity between the opposition parties "to fight against these forces who are ruining the country."
India logs 169 new coronavirus infections, active Covid-19 cases dip to 2,555
India has logged 169 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have decreased to 2,555 from 2,687, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The death toll stood at 5,31,888, with two deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The Covid-19 case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore (4,49,92,462)

Major fire in residential building in Mumbai; at least 50 people rescued, no casualty
A major fire broke out in a seven-storey residential building in Kalbadevi area of south Mumbai in the wee hours of Friday, but there was no report of any injury to anyone, officials said. The blaze erupted in the building located on Dhanji Street near the famous Mumbadevi temple around 1.30 am and several people trapped inside were rescued, they said.
"Fifty to sixty people were stuck inside the complex at that time, but they were safely rescued by the fire brigade personnel using the staircase of an adjoining building," a civic official said.

"Tolerating glorification of violence and public promotion of hate goes against everything our country believes in. Khalistan supporters have crossed a line and Canada should and must respond," he said.
Pakistan: Section 144 in Balochistan to prevent wheat, flour smuggling from province
Section 144 is in force throughout Pakistan's Balochistan, especially in the Naseerabad division, to prevent the movement of wheat and flour from the province to other provinces, as per a notification issued by the Government of Balochistan's Department of Food, Pakistan vernacular media Daily Intekhab reported. Daily Intekhab is a daily newspaper of Balochistan.
The initiative's aim is to prevent wheat produced in the province from being taken out of the province so that there is no shortage of wheat and flour in the province until the next wheat production season and their prices can be maintained, it said.
