BJP's Anil Vij dismisses exit polls, says 'confident of victory in Haryana'
After exit polls suggested a strong comeback for Congress in Haryana after a decade, BJP candidate Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt downplayed the significance of these projections, stating that the actual situation on the ground is quite different. "We do not give much importance to exit poll predictions. If there is any talk, it will be on October 8 when the results will be declared," he said. Earlier, Anil Vij confidently stated that the BJP would form the government in Haryana and hinted at the possibility of becoming the Chief Minister, citing his seniority in the party.

9 injured in head-on collision between tourist bus, container in UP's Shahjahanpur
Nine people, including two women from Nepal, were injured in a head-on collision between a tourist bus going from Delhi to Nepal and a container on Sunday, police said. The incident took place when a tourist bus full with passengers was going to Nepal from Delhi. When this bus reached near Laungapur forest under the Kutar police station area, a container coming from the front hit the bus due to which seven men and two women from Nepal were seriously injured.
50 college students hospitalised after dinner at hostel in Maharashtra's Latur
Nearly 50 female students of a government college were hospitalised for suspected food poisoning after having dinner at their hostel in Maharashtra's Latur city, officials said. The hostel, part of the Puranmal Lahoti Government Polytechnic, has 324 female students. At around 7 pm on Saturday, the students had dinner, consisting of rice, chapattis, 'okra' curry and lentil soup, the officials said. By 8.30 pm, several of them felt nauseous and some of the students started vomiting.
Amethi murder case: Prime accused Chandan shifted to district jail in Raebareli
Chandan Verma, accused of killing a Dalit family in Amethi, has been shifted to the district jail in Raebareli, as per officials. Verma (35), who was arrested on Friday, was shot by the police on Saturday while they were trying to recover the pistol he allegedly used in the killing. He was admitted to the hospital from where he was shifted to the district jail.

Two stranded foreign mountaineers rescued in Uttarakhand's Chamoli
Two foreign women mountaineers stranded at a height of 6,015 metres on way to the Chaukhamba III peak in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, were rescued on Sunday morning, the District Disaster Management Centre said. The mountaineers- Michelle Theresa Dvorak from the USA and Fav Jane Manners from the United Kingdom- were stranded since October 3. Two IAF helicopters began a search operation to trace them on Friday, joined by mountaineering-trained State Disaster Response Force personnel on Saturday for assistance.
ED conducts raids at 44 locations across nine states in Pearl Agro Corporation case
