21-year-old medical student from Andhra dies after getting trapped in frozen Kyrgyzstan waterfall

An MBBS student from Andhra Pradesh was killed after getting trapped under a frozen waterfall in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, NDTV reported today. Dasari Chandu, from Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalle, was a second year MBBS student in Kyrgyzstan. He visited the waterfall on Sunday with four other students, who were also from Andhra Pradesh.

At least 5 people have died while crossing English Channel, hours after UK approved deportation bill

Hours after the UK approved the migrant deportation bill, at least 5 people were while crossing the English Channel, according to French media. The Voix du Nord newspaper said the bodies were discovered at the Wimereaux beach in northern France on Tuesday. This came only hours after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's latest effort to send some migrants on a one-way ticket to Rwanda finally won approval from Parliament. Human rights groups have described the legislation as inhumane and cruel.

Madras HC declines to suspend prison sentence of former TN special DGP in sexual harassment case:

The Madras High Court today refused to suspend a three-year prison term imposed on former Tamil Nadu special DGP Rajesh Das in a sexual harassment case. Dismissing the criminal miscellaneous petitions, Justice M Dhandapani also refused to exempt Das from surrendering before the trial court.

Diamonds worth crores found in noodles at Mumbai airport, passenger taken in custody

The customs department has caught diamonds concealed in packets of noodles and gold hidden in the body parts of passengers and baggage, collectively valued at Rs 6.46 crore, at the Mumbai airport, an official said. An Indian national travelling from Mumbai to Bangkok was found smuggling the diamonds concealed in packets of noodles inside his trolley bag. Four passengers were taken into custody after the seizure of more than 6.8 kg of gold valued at Rs 4.44 crore and diamonds of Rs 2.02 crore over the weekend, the customs official said.

Iranian Prez Raisi, Pak Army chief discuss border security issues after conducting tit-for-tat air strikes

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir held talks on regional stability and border security, months after the two neighbours carried out tit-for-tat air strikes against alleged terrorist hideouts on rival lands.
