Children below 12 must get a seat with their parents: DGCA to airlines

Aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed airlines to ensure children below the age of 12 are seated with their parents, the regulator said today. “Airlines shall ensure that children up to the age of 12 years are allocated seats with at least one of their parents/guardians, who are travelling on the same PNR and a record of the same shall be maintained,” DGCA said. "Mr Rohatgi submits that ads have been issued in press only yesterday wherein unqualified apology tendered by contemnors for lapses. The said ads are not on record. Same shall be collated and filed. Be done in 2 days," the bench ordered today. Further stated that additional ads shall be issued by proposed contemnors tendering unconditional apology. As and when said document filed, issue related to implementation of Drugs and Magic Remedies Act, etc. needs closer examination, the bench added.

Looks like a proxy plea on your behalf, Mr Rohatgi," Justice Kohli said. Senior advocate Rohatgi replied that he has nothing to do with this. We are very curious about the timing of the application, the bench replied.

Former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif leaves for China on 'private visit'

Ten killed as Navy helicopters collide mid-air in Malaysia

Ten people were after two navy helicopters collided in mid-air during a military rehearsal for a Royal Malaysian Navy parade. One of the choppers clipped the rotor of the other before the two crashed into the ground, videos telecast on local media show. There are no known survivors.

India, US regularly consult on democracy, human rights issues: State Department official

After an official report claimed that there were significant human rights abuses in Manipur last year,  a senior US State Department official stated that India and the United States regularly consult at the highest levels on democracy and human rights issues. "The US and India regularly consult at the highest levels on democracy and human rights issues," Robert S Gilchrist, senior official from the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labour, told reporters.
 
"We strongly encourage, urge India to uphold its human rights obligations and commitments. We also regularly meet with civil society representatives both in the US and India to hear their perspectives, and those sorts of perspectives inform the human rights report, and we encourage the government of India to consult and meet regularly with civil society organisations representing a diversity of people," Gilchrist said.
