Due to a marked improvement in the law and order situation, the restriction of the movement outside selected residence(s) has been lifted from 5am to 1pm for June 16 for all areas of Imphal West district except for the areas covered by the schedule area of Meitei Langol, the ANI reported. 

IndiGo flight 6E6595, operating from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad experienced a tail strike while landing in Ahmedabad. The aircraft was declared grounded at Ahmedabad airport for necessary assessment and repairs. The incident is under investigation by relevant authorities, IndiGo said in a press statement.

According to the IMD, Cyclone Biparjoy landfall has started in Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat. Earlier the IMD has said that VSCS (very severe cyclonic storm) Biparjoy will mak landfall on Saurashtra & Kutch & adjoining Pakistan coasts between Mandvi & Karachi near Jakhau Port by today evening.  

The Madras High Court on Thursday rejected Tamil Nadu Minister for Electricity, V Senthil Balaji's plea for interim bail in connection with his arrest for allegedly being involved in a cash-for-job case, the Bar & Bench reported. Light rains expected in MP's Indore, Ujjain due to cyclone Biparjoy

Indore and Ujjain districts of Madhya Pradesh may see gusty winds and light rainfall in the next 24 hours due to cyclone Biparjoy, a senior official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday evening. The severe cyclonic storm made landfall on the Kutch coast in neighbouring Gujarat earlier in the day. Isolated places in Indore and Ujjain districts might witness light showers with gusty winds in the next 24 hours, but otherwise Madhya Pradesh would not see much effect of Biparjoy," said IMD Bhopal centre director R Balasubramanian. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph were very likely in isolated places in western MP, he added.

Cyclone landfall: Trees, electricity poles uprooted along Gujarat coast

At least three people were injured in incidents of treefall in Gujarat's Devbhoomi Dwarka district as cyclone Biparjoy made landfall with destructive wind speed and incessant rains on Kutch coast on Thursday evening, officials said. Many trees and electricity poles were uprooted near Jakhau and Mandvi towns in Kutch district while tin sheets used in house construction were blown away. Until 7 pm there had been no report of death, said Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi.

Over 30 houses gutted in fire in UP's Ballia, no casualties reported
