G20: 4th Energy Transitions Working Group meeting begins in Goa
Nearly 100 delegates from G20 member countries, special invitees and several international organisations are participating in the fourth Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting which began in Goa on Wednesday. There are six priority areas outlined under India's G20 Presidency, reflecting India's focus on various aspects of energy transition and building global cooperation toward sustainable and clean energy development, an official said. The two-day meeting, chaired by Pankaj Agarwal, the ETWG chair and secretary of the Union Ministry of Power, is being held at a hotel near Goa's capital Panaji.

Delhi Police trains 19 women commandos as 'Markswomen' in view of G20 meet
The Delhi Police is giving special training to Women commandos as 'markswomen' in the view of upcoming G-20 summit that will be held in New Delhi. "Delhi Police will provide utmost security to the visiting delegates. So we are giving training to our women commandos," an official said. According to Delhi Police senior officials so far 19 women SWAT commandos have successfully completed a one month course from the training team of the Indo Tibetan Border Police Force in Madhya Pradesh.

NCP integral part of NDA, will work with alliance in future: Praful Patel
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel who had earlier attended the opposition meeting in Patna last month, was present at the NDA meeting in Delhi on Tuesday along with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Soon after attending the meeting Praful Patel said that NCP is an integral part of the national Democratic Alliance and his party will work with the NDA in future. "I and Ajit Pawar were present at the NDA meeting today along with 38 political parties. NCP is an integral part of NDA. In future, NCP will work with the NDA," he said.

India presents candidature to IMO Council for Biennium 2024-25 Elections
India has presented its candidature under Category-B to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Council Elections for the Biennium 2024-25 at its Assembly in London. Category B of the IMO includes 10 states with "the largest interest in international seaborne trade". Its current members are: India, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The High Commision of India in London on Tuesday, organised a reception on a Thames cruise boat to mark the occasion.

Govt calls all-party meeting ahead of monsoon session of Parliament
The government has convened an all-party meeting on Wednesday to deliberate on a host of issues related to Parliament's monsoon session, which will begin from July 20. It's a customary get-together on the eve of a session's start as various parties put across their issues at the meeting attended by senior government ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also participated in many such meetings. A similar all-party meeting called on Tuesday by Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar has been deferred due to non-availability of leaders of many parties. While opposition parties are holding a meeting in Bengaluru, the ruling National Democratic Alliance is meeting in the national capital.

ADB retains India's economic growth forecast at 6.4% for current fiscal
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday retained India's economic growth forecast at 6.4 per cent for the current financial year and 6.7 per cent for the next, saying robust domestic demand will continue to support the region's recovery. In an update to its Asian Development Outlook, the ADB said inflation is expected to continue to fall, approaching pre-pandemic levels as fuel and food prices decline. It forecast 3.6 per cent inflation this year for developing economies in Asia, and 3.4 per cent in 2024. The Indian economy grew 7.2 per cent in the 2022-23 fiscal ended March 2023.
