The Delhi High Court has ruled that the Central government, which oversees the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), is the rightful authority to notify the annual income threshold for determining whether a child qualifies as economically weaker section (EWS). The court emphasized that the KVS cannot reject admission to a student under the EWS category solely on the basis that the income certificate was procured from a state other than Delhi.

HC refuses to direct Trai to furnish tapping info to mobile user under RTI

The Delhi High Court has overturned a decision that upheld the Central Information Commission's (CIC) directive to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to gather and provide information under RTI proceedings regarding the alleged phone tapping of a mobile user. In an appeal by TRAI against a single-judge bench order, a bench led by Justice Vibhu Bakhru stated that surveillance activities, conducted under government directives in the interest of the country's sovereignty, security, friendly relations with foreign states, public order, or prevention of incitement to an offense, are exempted under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Two dead, 12 injured as minibus plunges into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Monday, a minibus carrying a wedding party skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge. Two individuals lost their lives, and 12 others sustained injuries in the incident. The bus was traveling from Balmatkote to Badar village when the accident occurred near Dhamini around 6 am, as reported by Chassana SHO Suman Singh.

Additional security deployed in J&K's Poonch amid search for terrorists

New cabinet will work for betterment of the state: MP CM Yadav
