The Supreme Court is set to hear Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia's bail pleas on Monday in relation to corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The former deputy chief minister of Delhi has requested bail, arguing that he has been in custody for 16 months and that the trial has not progressed since October of last year. According to the Supreme Court's cause list for July 29, a bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan will hear Sisodia's pleas. On July 16, the apex court had agreed to hear the pleas and requested responses from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Sisodia has also filed an application to revive his bail petitions in the excise policy-linked corruption and money laundering cases.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Central, M Harshavardhan, stated, "We have registered a criminal case. Our forensic teams are here, and the process of collecting forensic evidence is underway. We are committed to conducting a proper investigation, registering a strong case, and finding out the truth. Two people have been detained so far." He added that a final round of search operations is still pending and that the operation is nearing its conclusion.

Eight Delhi Police cops taken off duty after pictures of them partying with builder goes viral
An assistant sub inspector among eight policemen were sent to police lines after photographs of them, wearing uniform, having liquor at a builder's party surfaced on social media, officials said on Sunday. An ASI, five head constables and two constables, posted at Jaitpur police station in southeast Delhi, were found to be partying with a builder in Jaitpur area, they said.
Hirakud Dam releases water, Odisha govt asks collectors to be on high alert
In the wake of heavy rain, the authorities of Hirakud Dam in Odisha on Sunday released excess water from the reservoir, the first such an exercise in the current monsoon season, an official said. The water was released through 20 of the 67 gates of the dam to downstream of the Mahanadi river, he said. The exercise was undertaken as the water level in the reservoir was rising due to rain in the river upstream, Water Resources Department Engineer-in-Chief Bhakta Ranjan Mohanty said.
