Petition in Supreme Court seeks review of judgement scrapping electoral bonds scheme

A petition has been filed in the top court seeking review of its February 15 verdict, which had scrapped the central government's electoral bonds scheme.

The review plea filed by advocate Mathews J. Nedumpara submitted that  the court entertained the petition (against the scheme) and struck down the law and the scheme without noticing that in doing so it is acting as an appellate authority over Parliament

Sandeshkhali case updates: SC grants 2 weeks to LS Secretariat to respond to plea by West Bengal bureaucrats

The Supreme Court today granted two weeks to the Lok Sabha Secretariat and others to file their replies to a petition moved by top bureaucrats from West Bengal against their summoning by the privileges committee of the Lower House of Parliament. The bureaucrats were summoned by the Committee of Privileges of the Lok Sabha over a complaint of "misconduct" filed against them by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sukanta Majumdar when he was trying to visit violence-hit Sandeshkhali.

AAP lawmaker Amanatullah Khan's anticipatory bail plea rejected by SC

The top court today refused to entertain an anticipatory bail plea of AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board during his chairmanship. The Supreme Court bench asked Khan to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on Apr 18 at 11 am in the case.

Mumbai cops questioning owner of motorcycle used in firing outside actor Salman Khan's house

Police officials are questioning the owner of the motorcycle allegedly used by unidentified persons in the firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's house in suburban Bandra here, an official said on Monday. The motorcycle, which was abandoned near Mount Mary Church, a little over a kilometre from the actor's house, was registered in the name of a man living in the Panvel area of Navi Mumbai.

BRS leader K Kavitha seeks bail in Delhi court

BRS MLC K Kavitha today moved a Delhi court seeking bail in a corruption case lodged by the CBI in connection with the alleged excise scam. The application is likely to be taken up for hearing later in the day by special judge for the CBI and ED, Kaveri Baweja, who earlier in the day sent Kavitha to judicial custody till April 23.

"It was very painful to see that he (Arvind Kejriwal) is not even getting amenities that a hardcore criminal gets. What is his crime? Delhi airport's T2 conversion to all-international may begin next April

The proposed transformation of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport’s Terminal 2 (T2) into an exclusively international terminal has been delayed until early next year, according to a report in The Times of India (ToI) today. The proposal by the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) seeks to prevent a repeat of the previous winter, when crucial infrastructure, specifically the main CAT III runway (28/10), underwent repairs for a major portion of the season, leading to flight delays.

Delhi CM in ED custody: Punjab CM Bhagwant Maan meets Kejriwal in Tihar jail

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today met his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar jail in Delhi.  A Tihar jail official said that the meeting took place in the 'mulakat jangla,' a room divided with a glass wall. The official added that Mann and Kejriwal spoke to each other via intercom.
