Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said social media has played a "significant role" in fuelling the violence in Nuh and in response to this concern, the state government has formed a three-member committee tasked with monitoring social media activities from July 21. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and others will be closely examined and scanned for any provocative posts. The committee will take appropriate legal action against individuals found spreading feeling of hatred or misinformation, he said.

As India and the UK are close to concluding negotiations for a proposed free trade agreement (FTA), chief negotiators of both countries will hold the 12th round of talks from August 7 here, an official said. Both sides are looking at concluding the talks before the end of the year. The main issues which could come up for discussions in this round include investment treaty, reduction of duties on auto and whiskey and matters pertaining to services, the official said.

Sibal states that not only were the boundaries of J&K changed but the state was also converted into a Union Territory. 
 
Sibal said, "You can change the boundary of a state, you can bifurcate boundaries of a large state to make smaller states. But never in the history of this country has a State been converted into a Union Territory... This is unthinkable. You move away from representative democracy and you put under executive control." 
 
He argues that a political act cannot be exercised by parliament and that they had no authority to this when the constitution came into force.
 
He points out that the abrogation took place three months after parliamentary elections in May 2019
 
He said, "So you can hold parliamentary elections but you will not hold state elections?"

Clause B refers to the power of parliament to make laws for the state. Presidents must consult with the states regarding matters governed by union and concurrent lists and referred to in instruments of accession.
 
Clause C refers to substantive Article 1 of the Constitution of India and Clause D refers to other provisions of the constitution that may be applicable under the order of the President.
