All 379 passengers and crew of a Japan Airlines plane escaped from a fire after a collision with a Coast Guard aircraft at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Tuesday, but  most of the coast guard plane crew had died. A coast guard spokesperson earlier said five of the crew were unaccounted for but that the captain had escaped.

Japan's coast guard said five crew members are missing after a collision between its plane and a passenger plane at Tokyo's Haneda Airport that led to a major fire.

The pilot has evacuated and contacted officials, but the other five crewmembers are unaccounted-for and the condition of the aircraft is also unknown, he said.

Japan Airlines said that all 379 passengers and crew had been evacuated after an aircraft was engulfed in flames at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Tuesday after a possible collision with a Coast Guard aircraft. Live footage showed the aircraft erupt in flames as it skidded down the tarmac with fire crews trying to extinguish the fire.

IPL: CBI closes 2019 betting cases over lack of evidence

 

The  Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has closed two cases related to alleged fixing of Indian Premier League matches in 2019  due to lack of evidence, officials said on Tuesday. In May 2022, the agency had filed two First Information Reports (FIRs)  against seven people after receiving information that "a network of individuals involved in cricket betting are influencing the outcome of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches based on inputs received from Pakistan".

 

The CBI could not find enough evidence to proceed with the prosecution against the accused persons after nearly two years of probe.

South Korean Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung stabbed in neck, hospitalised

 

 An unidentified attacker stabbed South Korea’s main opposition party leader Lee Jae-myung in the neck during a visit to the southern coastal city of Busan. Lee was rushed to the hospital. An official from Lee’s office said that his injuries do not appear to life-threatening. The attacker was arrested at the scene.
