The 1st Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Cabo Verde was held in Praia, Cabo Verde on 18 March 2024, co-chaired by Sevala Naik Mude, Additional Secretary (Central & West Africa), Ministry of External Affairs from Indian side and Dr. Miryan Djamila Sena Vieira, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from the side of Cabo Verde.

Tata Steel said on Monday it has decided to cease operations of coke ovens at the Port Talbot plant, in Wales, following a "deterioration of operational stability". "Tata Steel UK will increase imports of coke to offset the impact of the coke oven closures," the steelmaker said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin for winning another six-year term. A five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said there is "no manner of doubt" that the SBI is required to disclose complete details of the bonds.
The AAP said on Monday morning that Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before ED today. "When there is bail from the court, why is ED sending summons again and again? ED summons are illegal," the AAP said.

Seven people including three children were left dead after a car returning from a wedding crashed into a tractor in Bihar's Khagaria district. The accident took place on NH 31, and four others sustained injuries in the accident. Rescue operations were conducted and the injured were rushed to the hospital.

Four coaches and an engine of the Sabarmati-Agra superfast train derailed near Madar railway station in Rajasthan's Ajmer late late on Monday night. Four coaches along with the engine derailed near the Madar railway station, officials said. Soon rescue teams reached to the spot. No casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident.

N. Korea's Kim says Russian voters showed 'unshakeable support' for Putin

Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur emphasised the importance of vigilance in combating cybercrime. He urged victims of cyber fraud to lodge complaints promptly on helpline number 1930.
 
He warned that in today's digital landscape, where online transactions and the use of UPI or net banking, are on the rise, cybercriminals employ deceptive methods to transfer money from victims' accounts to their own.
 
He stressed the importance of reporting cyber fraud incidents promptly to helpline number 1930. "Doing so during the "golden hours" significantly increases the likelihood of freezing fraudulent amounts, with around a 70 per cent success rate," he said.

Bengaluru facing shortfall of 500 MLD water: Karnataka CM

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said Bengaluru is facing a shortage of about 500 million litres of water per day (MLD) against the requirement of 2,600 MLDs and officials have been directed to meet daily and draw up an action plan to tackle the water scarcity.
According to the CM, 1,470 MLD water comes from Cauvery river and 650 MLD is sourced from borewells.
“There are 14,000 borewells in Bengaluru, of which 6,900 have dried. Water bodies have been encroached or died. Bengaluru needs 2,600 MLD water. Out of this 1,470 MLD comes from Cauvery river and 650 MLD from borewells. We have a shortage of about 500 MLD,” the Chief Minister told reporters after a meeting with the officials of the civic agencies and irrigation department.

Bilkis Bano case: One more convict moves SC seeking review of Jan 8 verdict cancelling remission

One more convict in the Bilkis Bano case has moved the Supreme Court seeking a review of its January 8 verdict cancelling remission of his sentence, contending that it cannot be challenged based on the nature of the crime and "society's cry for justice".
 
The review plea filed by Ramesh Rupabhai Chandana said the top court erred while passing the impugned order and overruling judgment dated May 13, 2022, passed by another bench of the apex court.
 
The Gujarat government and two of the 11 convicts have already filed a petition seeking a review of the January 8 verdict in which remission orders of all of them were cancelled and they asked to surrender.

Kolkata building collapse: 7 killed, Mamata assures stern action against illegal construction

In a horrific accident, at least seven people, including two women, were left dead and several others injured after an under-construction five-storey building collapsed in the Garden Reach area of Kolkata, police said today.

Assam DSP arrested for allegedly raping minor domestic help

A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) at the Police Training College in Assam’s Dergaon, has been taken under custody for allegedly torturing and raping a 15-year-old girl who was working as a domestic help at his residence.
