Kejriwal meets rat-hole miners from Delhi involved in Silkyara tunnel rescue operation

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the rat-hole mining experts from Delhi who participated in the operation to rescue the 41 workers trapped in Silkyara tunnel, officials said on Friday. The workers were trapped inside the tunnel in Uttarakhand after a portion of it collapsed. They were rescued on Tuesday following 17 days of a multi-agency operation. The 12-member team of rat-hole mining experts were called to do the drilling after an American auger machine came across hurdles while clearing the rubble.

ED arrests former J&K Co-operative Bank chairman in Rs 250 cr money laundering case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested former J&K Co-operative Bank chairman Mohammad Shafi Dar in connection with a Rs 250-crore money laundering case in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday. Dar was arrested along with Mohammad Hilal A Mir, the chairman of the River Jhelum Cooperative Housing Building Society, a "fictitious firm", and they will be presented before a special court, according to the officials.

UPI transactions mark new peak of Rs 17.4 trn in Nov, dip in volume

Unified Payment Interface (UPI) transactions clocked a fresh peak in value in November by hitting Rs 17.4 trillion, up 1.4 per cent compared to Rs 17.16 trillion in October. Transactions reduced by 1.5 per cent to 11.24 billion, compared to a record high of 11.41 billion in October. The number of transactions were 10.56 billion in September, with a value of Rs 15.8 trillion. According to data shared by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), this was 54 per cent higher in volume terms and 46 per cent in value terms compared to the same month last year.
