The Finance Ministry has hiked import duties on gold and silver findings and coins of precious metals to 15 per cent from the existing 10 per cent. Gold or silver findings are a small component such as a hook, pin, screw that holds the whole or a part of a piece of jewellery in place.

As the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra by the Congress party enters Assam, a clash has broken out between party workers and police in Guwahati. To stop the yatra, a large number of police personnel were present at the scene and they also barricaded the area and the route.
