NCSC team submits report on Sandeshkhali violence to President Murmu

A delegation of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) which visited West Bengal's Sandeshkhali to investigate alleged harassment of women by TMC supporters has submitted its report to President Droupadi Murmu, officials said.

 

A large number of women in Sandeshkhali have claimed that TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his supporters have grabbed swathes of land by force and also sexually harassed them.

PM Modi's degree: Gujarat HC rejects pleas by Kejriwal to quash summons in criminal defamation case

The Gujarat High Court today dismissed pleas by Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh to invalidate the summons issued against them in a criminal defamation case over their comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's educational qualification. Kejriwal and Singh had challenged the summons by a trial court in the case filed by Gujarat University and the subsequent order of the sessions court dismissing their revision applications against the summons.

News update: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah presents state Budget 2024 in Assembly

CM Siddaramaiah said that an average of Rs 50,000 to Rs 55,000 will be transferred to each family every year through 'guarantee' schemes. Supreme Court to consider urgent listing of Sharad Pawar's plea against EC decision on real NCP

The top court today said it will consider for early listing a plea of Sharad Pawar challenging an Election Commission order recognising the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar-led faction as the real Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). A bench took note of the submissions of senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, that the plea needed urgent listing in view of a recent order of the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar.
