Widespread rainfall in Rajasthan: Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur record heavy showers

Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur recorded heavy showers during a 24-hour period as widespread rainfall continued in Rajasthan. In the 24 hours ended at 8:30 am on Tuesday, light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder, occurred at some places while heavy rain was recorded at some places in Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur districts, the regional Met office in Jaipur said. The Met office has predicted rain and thunder in some parts of Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jaipur, Ajmer and Bikaner divisions in the next two days.

India added 470 mn jobs in FY24 over 27 sectors, total number of employed people touch 643 mn-mark: RBI

India added nearly 470 million jobs during 2023-24, taking the total number of employed people to 643 million spread over 27 sectors covering the entire economy, according to Reserve Bank data. The number of employed people was 596.7 million at the end of March 2023, said the RBI's update on 'Measuring Productivity at the Industry Level-The India KLEMS [Capital (K), Labour (L), Energy (E), Material (M) and Services (S)] Database'. Using the Tornqvist Aggregation formula, the RBI said the annual growth in employment during 2023-24 was 6 per cent compared to 3.2 per cent in the year-ago period.

Court takes cognisance of EDs 7th supplementary chargesheet, summons Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

A Delhi court on Tuesday took cognisance of the seventh supplementary chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy "scam". The federal probe agency has named Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party in the supplementary chargesheet. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja took cognisance of the chargesheet and issued summons to Kejriwal for July 12.

Cong leaders attack Modi govt over deaths of Indian Army jawans in Kathua ambush

Accusing the Narendra Modi government of being unable to prevent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Sachin Pilot said, "The terrorist attacks are continuously increasing...In Parliament, the government claims that the situation in J&K is normal. But if our soldiers are losing their lives in terrorist attacks, the government will have to give its clarification..." In a similar vein, another Congress leader Manish Tewari said, "It is the 24th terrorist attack in Jammu in the last seven months, it's sad, our sympathies are with the family of those who lost their lives or was injured. Why these terrorist attacks are going on? I hope that the government will take strict action and stop the infiltration which is being encouraged by Pakistan from the other side of the border."
