Man booked for manhandling cop in Thane district

A case has been registered against a man for allegedly manhandling a policeman who was a part of the static surveillance team (SST) deployed to inspect vehicles in Maharashtra's Thane district. The police on Thursday registered a case against the accused, Dadu Gaikwad, under section 353 (whoever assaults or uses criminal force on any person being a public servant in the execution of his duty) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act, an official said.

Bank manager, his brother and friend lose Rs 84 lakh in ‘share trading' scam

The police in Maharashtra's Palghar district have filed a case against seven persons for reportedly cheating a private bank manager and two others of over Rs 84 lakh promising high returns on investment, an official said today. Between March and April, two of the accused convinced the bank manager, a resident of Vasai, into buying “IPOs (initial public offer) and shares”. Later, his brother and friend also joined in.
