Israeli tanks and warplanes shlled areas of Rafah on Thursday, Palestinian residents said, after US President Joe Biden vowed to withhold weapons from Israel if its forces launch a major invasion of the southern Gaza city. As ceasefire talks continued in Cairo, Palestinian militant groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad said their fighters fired anti-tank rockets and mortars at Israeli tanks massed on the eastern outskirts of the city.

Two die after two-wheeler gets sandwiched between two buses in Kochi
Two men were killed today morning when the two-wheeler they were travelling on got sandwiched between two Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses near Palarivattom here, police said. Both men died on the spot, police said, adding the driver of the bus which came from behind was taken into custody.

India on Thursday stated Canada has informed it about the arrest of three Indian citizens in the case of killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar but it has not provided any "specific" evidence or information in the matter yet. "Let me first make it clear that no specific or relevant evidence or information has been shared by the Canadian authorities till date," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

6 Chinese aircraft, 7 naval vessels operating near airspace, waters, says Taiwan
Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) stated that it detected six Chinese military aircraft and seven naval vessels operating near Taiwan's airspace from 6 am (local time) on Thursday to 6 am (local time) on Friday. According to Taiwan's MND, four of the 7 Chinese military aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern and eastern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).

5 Indian sailors released from Israeli-linked vessel seized by Iran
Five of the Indian sailors on board an Israeli-linked vessel seized by Tehran were released on Thursday, the Indian embassy in Iran said. The sailors have departed from Iran, the embassy added.In post on X, the Indian Embassy in Iran wrote, "5 of the Indian sailors on MSC Aries have been released and departed from Iran today evening.
