The BJP today slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged incident of misbehavior with his party MP Swati Maliwal and demanded either he ask his assistant Bibhav Kumar, who is the accused, to resign or he himself quit as chief minister. BJP National Spokesperson Shazia Ilmi, who was formerly with the Aam Aadmi Party, also expressed concern over Maliwal's safety.

Supreme Court reserves judgement on plea of Kerala YouTuber seeking pre-arrest bail in case lodged by MLA

The top court reserved its judgment on a plea of Shajan Skaria, who runs YouTube channel Marunadan Malayali, challenging the denial of anticipatory bail to him by the Kerala High Court in a criminal case lodged by MLA P V Sreenijin.   Sreenijin had filed FIR for offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Skaria alleging that he had intentionally humiliated the lawmaker by making false allegations and accusations through a video uploaded on 'Marunadan Malayali'.

SC says Uttarakhand govt's approach in controlling forest fires lackadaisical, summons top bureucrat

Taking the Uttarakhand government to task, the Supreme Court said on Wednesday it was at pains to say that the state's approach in controlling forest fires was "lackadaisical". A bench headed by Justice B R Gavai directed the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand to be present personally before it on May 17.

Seven members of family feared drowned in Narmada river

At least seven members of a family,  are feared to have drowned in the Narmada River at Poicha in Gujarat's Narmada district on Tuesday. The National Disaster Rescue Force's (NDRF) local divers and Vadodara fire team conducted a search operation today but no traces were found of the victims so far.

The Ministry of External Affairs today released a statement expressing condolences over the death of retired Colonel Waibhav Anil Kale who lost his life in Gaza. Kale was working as the security coordination officer the UN's department of safety and security. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and dear ones," the statement read.

Ghatkopar hoarding collapse accused last traced to Lonavala, his phone switched off: Mumbai police

Mumbai police said today that Bhavesh Prabhudas Bhinde, the prime accused in the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse, which killed at least 14 people on Monday afternoon, was last traced to Lonavala near Pune on Tuesday.  Bhinde, the director of Ego Media Private Limited,  was not at his house in Mulund when the police team reached.

All 15 trapped in collapsed lift at Rajasthan mine rescued, 1 feared dead

All 15 Hindustan Copper Limited officials who had been trapped in a mine in Neem ka Thana district since last night were taken out Wednesday, with one of them is feared dead, an official said. Collector Sharad Mehra said 14 rescued were sent to SMS hospital in Jaipur for treatment and one was taken to a company hospital for examination as he is feared dead.
