Supreme Court closes contempt of court cases against NCDRC members
The Supreme Court on Wednesday closed contempt of court cases against two National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) members who had issued non-bailable warrants against a realty company's directors despite the top court's stay order.The bench had earlier come down heavily on two members of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for flouting an order of the top court to refrain from taking any coercive action against a real estate firm.

Delhi High court lists Delhi CM Kejriwal's plea against ED summons
The Delhi High Court today listed for hearing on July 11 Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging the summonses issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with its probe into the excise policy-linked money laundering case.
A bench headed by Justice Suresh Kumar Kait granted four more weeks to Kejriwal to file a rejoinder to the reply submitted by the ED.

Fire breaks out in paper godown in east Delhi, 1 dead
A 45-year-old man died after a broke out in an 'illegal' paper godown in the East Delhi area today, the Delhi Fire Services officials said. Officials stated that the fire broke out in a two-storey building in the Shakarpur area where the body of Satendra Paswan was recovered behind a mount of gutted cardboard in a room.

Supreme Court quashes FIR related to ‘Hinduphobic’ book at Indore college library, calls case ‘absurd’
The Supreme Court on Tuesday quashed criminal proceedings initiated against the principal of Indore's New Government Law College who was booked for promoting "Hinduphobia" and hurting religious sentiments after two books, 'Collective Violence and Criminal Justice System' and 'Women and Criminal Law', were found in the institute's library. The court observed that the FIR allegations were "absurd" since the books were part of the syllabus approved by the academic council and could be found even in the SC library.
