Jawan killed in accidental firing in Rajasthan
A CISF jawan was killed after his service rifle accidentally went off in a moving vehicle in Rajasthan's Sikar district on Tuesday, police said.
Devi Lal was part of a flying squad for the assembly election and was returning to a camp when the incident occurred, SHO, Fatehpur Kotwali, Indraj Marodia said.
The rifle was positioned between the knees of the jawan, who was seated in the vehicle when the accidental fire happened, he said.
Rajnath Singh pays tribute at Arunachal's Tawang War Memorial
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday paid tribute to the soldiers' who lost their lives in the line of duty at Tawang War Memorial in Arunachal Pradesh and appreciated the soldiers for shouldering the responsibility of guarding the borders.
Rajnath Singh who on Monday arrived in Tezpur for a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh spoke to media after attending the wreath-laying ceremony.
"The tough situation in which you are shouldering the responsibility of guarding the country's borders - we can't appreciate it enough. I would like to tell you that the countrymen are proud of you. All of you know the importance of your uniform" the Defence Minister told the troops.

Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrated every year at the end of Navaratri.

Cyclone 'Hamoon' intensifies into severe cyclonic storm over Northwest Bay of Bengal
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that the Cyclonic Storm 'Hamoon' has now intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the Northwest Bay of Bengal.
As per the information from IMD, the Cyclonic Storm 'Hamoon' over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved northeastwards with a speed of 18 km per hour during the past 6 hours.
The cyclonic storm after moving for six hours, intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and lay centred, at 2:30 am on October 24, over the northwest Bay of Bengal, near latitude 19.3°N and longitude 88.4°E, about 210 km east-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 270 km south-southeast of Digha (West Bengal) and 350 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
Bihar: Minor boy among 3 killed in stampede at Durga Puja pandal
A five-year-old boy and two women were killed, while several others received injuries in a stampede at a Durga Puja pandal in Bihar's Gopalganj district, police said.
The incident happened at the crowded pandal in Raja Dal locality of the town on Monday, SP Swarna Prabhat said.
He said devotees had lined up to receive prasad' when the child fell down and two elderly women bent down to protect him from getting crushed.
Tamil Nadu: Heavy Rainfall in Kanyakumari leads to breach in Puthanar canal
Heavy rain and thunderstorms witnessed in Kanyakumari district led to a sudden breach in the Puthanar canal near Thuckalay on Monday.
People living in the flooded area were evacuated safely, a district official said.
While the rainfall in Kanyakumari district had decreased for the past two days, on Monday afternoon, heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers occurred across the district, including Thuckalay, Thiruvattar, Kulasekaram, Marthandam, and Nagercoil, which led to the flooding of the canals.
Air quality in Delhi continues to remain in 'very poor' category
The overall air quality in the national capital continued to remain in the 'very poor' category on Tuesday morning, as per SAFAR-India.
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the Air Quality Index in the overall Delhi region was in the 'very poor' category at 303. In the Delhi University area and Pusa, the quality of air was recorded as 'very poor' and 'poor' with AQI at 335 and 242, respectively.
IIT Delhi breached the very poor category with an AQI of 306. The quality of air at the Airport (T3) was also in the very poor category, with an AQI of 313. The Mathura Road recorded 173 AQI, coming under the moderate category.
