PM Modi lays foundation stone of 508 railway station redevelopment projects in 27 states and UTs via video conferencing under Amrit Bharat Station scheme. "Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Indian Railways," he said.

The Haryana government had earlier suspended mobile internet and SMS services and later extended till August 5. "This order is extended to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of district Nuh and shall be in force up to 08.08.2023 (23:59 hrs)," it stated.

India's ambitious third moon mission, Chandrayaan-3 was successfully inserted into the lunar orbit on Saturday, the ISRO said. The required manoeuvre was done from an ISRO facility, the city-headquartered space agency said in a tweet. "Chandrayaan-3 has been successfully inserted into the lunar orbit. A retro-burning at the Perilune was commanded from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX), ISTRAC ( ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network), Bengaluru," the agency said in a tweet. Perilune is the spacecraft's closest point to the moon. The next operation - reduction of orbit - will be done at 11 PM on Sunday, ISRO added. ISRO also shared a message from the satellite to its centres, which read, "MOX, ISTRAC, this is Chandrayaan-3. I am feeling lunar gravity." Over five moves in the three weeks since the launch on July 14, ISRO has been lifting the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into orbits farther and farther away from the Earth.

15 killed, scores others injured in train derailment in Pakistan
At least 15 people were killed and scores others injured after five bogies of a Rawalpindi-bound train derailed in Pakistan on Sunday, police said.
The Hazara Express was headed to Rawalpindi from Karachi and the accident took place near the Sarhari Railway Station in Nawabshah area.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's office has sought a clarification from the state government regarding the three probable Congress candidates to be nominated as members of legislative council (MLCs), sources in the Raj Bhavan said. With speculation rife that the state government wanted to nominate three Congress leaders to the Upper House of the Karnataka Legislature including an actress, a private organisation wrote to Gehlot not to consider their candidature, the sources said on Sunday.

Three dead, 24 injured after a bus falls into a river from a bridge in Jharkhand
At least three people died and several others were injured after a private passenger bus fell into the Barakar river in Jharkhand's Giridih late Saturday evening.
There were 40 people on the bus. The toll is yet to be confirmed by the administration.
The ill-fated bus was en-route to Giridih from Ranchi. As soon as the bus reached the Barakar river bridge ahead of Dumri town, the driver lost control and the bus fell into the river.
There was hue and cry after the incident. As soon as the incident was reported, a crowd of local people gathered on the spot and started rescue work.
