A massive pre-dawn fire gutted thousands of shops at a shopping centre here on Saturday, forcing the country's military to make frantic attempts to douse the raging inferno, days after a popular clothing market was partially destroyed.
The fire started at the second floor of New SuperMarket, a shopping centre between the popular Newmarket and Dhaka College at 5.45 am and quickly spread to other floors, Newmarket Police Station chief Shafiqul Gani Sabu, was quoted as saying by news portal bdnews24.com.

Two tourists from TN drown in sea at Thiruvananthapuram
Two tourists, including a nine-year-old boy, from Tamil Nadu drowned in the sea here on Saturday morning.
The two were part of a three-family group who were on a visit to Thiruvananthapuram. They were staying at a resort near Karikkathi beach.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that those who have sent former education minister Manish Sisodia to jail are the enemies of the country.
While addressing a public gathering, CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "Some anti-national forces are not allowing our country to progress. Who does not want quality education for the children of the poor & Dalits of the country? If Dalits and the poor will get a chance our country will move forward. But there are some forces who did not want this to happen so they sent Manish Sisodia to jail. Those who sent him to jail are the enemies of the country".
