Uttarakhand tunnel rescue: Rescuers make 8-metre progress through vertical drilling in last one and half hours

With vertical drilling underway to further aid the rescue of the trapped workers in Silkyara tunnel, the rescuers managed to make progress over a distance of 8 metres down the ground in the last one and a half hours.

According to official sources, drilling of up to 8 metres has been completed in the last one and a half years, and currently, the work to lay a 900-mm pipeline is being undertaken.

Vertical drilling, one of the several chalked-out options to bring out 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel, started on Sunday afternoon.

K'taka BJP to open control rooms offering legal aid to its workers harassed by cops

The opposition BJP will open control rooms at the state district level for its workers and leaders to receive complains about police harassment, Karnataka BJP chief B Y Vijayendra said on Sunday.

In a message on 'X', the Shikaripur MLA said the party will provide legal aid to them (workers) if they are harassed for speaking up against the anti-people attitude of the Congress government in the state.

Over 30 injured as two govt buses collide head on in Kerala

Over 30 people were injured in a head-on collision between two buses of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation near Neyyattinkara here, police said on Sunday.

The drivers of the two buses were seriously injured in the incident, which occurred at around 10 pm on Saturday, they said.
