Supreme Court to hear plea seeking independent probe into killings of Atiq Ahmad, his brother on Apr 28

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear on April 28 a plea seeking an independent probe into the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj.
 
Atiq Ahmad (60) and Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists in the middle of a media interaction on April 15 night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup, the PTI reported.

Contempt proceedings against Lalit Modi closed after he tenders unconditional apology

The Supreme Court on Monday closed contempt proceedings against ex-IPL commissioner Lalit Modi after he tendered an unconditional apology for his remarks against the judiciary in social media posts. A bench of Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar took note of an affidavit filed by Modi in which he stated that in future he will not do anything which is inconsistent with the "majesty or dignity of Courts or Indian judiciary" in any manner, the PTI reported.

Income Tax department raids more than 50 G-Square premises in Tamil Nadu

The Income Tax department is conducting raids at more than 50 places on the premises of G-Square relations, a real estate company allegedly closely related to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his family members.

Income Tax sleuths are conducting raids and searches in the premises of Stalin's son-in-law Sabareesan's auditors residence also.

Will terminate Black Sea grain deal if G7 bans export, warns Russia
