The BJP on Wednesday mounted a blistering attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being the "kingpin" of the alleged liquor policy scam and saying that "handcuffs" are not far away.
The BJP's reaction came after the Enforcement Directorate raided AAP MP Sanjay Singh's residence in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy. Premises of some others connected to the case are also being covered, officials said.
SC directs Centre to look into mediation process over Sutlej-Yamuna link (SYL) canal dispute
The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Centre to look into the mediation process over the Sutlej-Yamuna link (SYL) canal dispute. Meanwhile, the top court also came down heavily on the Punjab government over their approach to the issue.
A bench of justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul CT Ravikumar and Sudhanshu Dhulia remarks came while hearing a matter relating to the Sutlej-Yamuna link (SYL) canal dispute.
The court came down heavily on the Punjab government for not taking steps for construction of the canal. The court remarked that Punjab has to co-operate in the process.
Govt aims to complete about 85% of road projects on time this fiscal: Anurag Jain
Around 85 per cent of road projects are likely to be completed by the end of this fiscal, as the steps taken by the government to ensure faster clearances like monitoring and quicker resolution of issues have started showing results, Road Transport and Highways secretary Anurag Jain said on Wednesday.
Jain said, the Road ministry is getting environment and forest clearance quickly and monitoring mechanisms of delayed projects have been improved.
"We took up completion of projects on time as a challenge, and in cases where the project is already delayed, a revised schedule was taken as the target. I have a feeling that by the end of this financial year (March), we will complete about 85 per cent of projects on time," he told PTI in an interview.
Operation to track down hiding terrorists enters third day in Rajouri
A cordon and search operation to track down terrorists suspected to be hiding in the forest area of Kalakote in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir entered the third day on Wednesday.
The operation started after two Army personnel were injured in a gunfight with terrorists on Monday.
"The search operation is going on in the area by security forces and police. However, no fresh contact has been established in the area", a senior officer told PTI.
PM Modi to launch multiple development projects in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch development projects worth Rs 12,600 crore in Madhya Pradesh and Rs 5,000 crore in Rajasthan during his visit to the two poll-bound states on Thursday.
In Jodhpur in Rajasthan, the Prime Minister's Office said, Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects in sectors like road, rail, aviation, health and higher education.
In Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects in sectors such as road, rail, gas pipeline, housing and clean drinking water, it said.
Got political clearance to travel abroad after filing plea: Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi to HC
Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Wednesday informed the Delhi High Court that she was granted political clearance by the Centre for her travel to Brisbane for a programme.
Justice Subramonium Prasad was told by the counsel for Oberoi that the mayor got the political clearance on Tuesday after filing the petition.
However, this was disputed by the Centre's counsel, who submitted that the clearance was given before the petition was filed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur to the nation on October 5, 2023.

100 students of physical education institute in MP fall sick; food poisoning suspected
Nearly 100 students of a government-run physical education institute in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior were rushed to a hospital after suffering from suspected food poisoning, officials said on Wednesday.
The students had consumed a paneer (cottage cheese) dish, they said, adding that food at the mess (of the institute) was being examined.
Around 100 students of the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education were on Tuesday brought to the government-run Jayarogya Hospital, its superintendent RKS Dhakad said.

Police registered an FIR against Shiv Sena MP Hemant Patil on Wednesday, a day after he made the acting dean of a government hospital in Nanded, where 31 patients died in 48 hours, clean a dirty toilet and urinals, according to police.
The case was registered following a complaint by the acting dean, S R Wakode, on charges of obstructing the public servant from doing his duty and defaming him.

5 people, aged 18 to 22, wounded in shooting on campus of Morgan State University in Baltimore
Five people were wounded, none critically, in a shooting outside a residence hall at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Tuesday, according to authorities, who urged students to take shelter on the campus of the historically Black college.
The Baltimore Police Department initially said officers were on the scene for an active shooter situation" around 9:30 p.m. Police kept the campus on lockdown for hours and provided little information about their investigation. The gunfire shattered windows at a residential building that's on the same block as a city police station.
Rain continues in many parts of Kerala
Relief camps were opened in many places and a holiday was declared for educational institutions in low-lying areas of some districts as isolated rains continued to lash many parts of Kerala on Wednesday.
Though there were no specific rain alerts for any district, moderate downpours accompanied by thunderstorms are expected in the southern state till October 5, according to India Meteorological Department.
Relief camps were opened in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts, which have witnessed heavy rains over the past few days.
2 super high altitude firing ranges in Arunachal Pradesh made available for armed forces
Two super high altitude firing ranges were made available to the armed forces for the practice of various kinds of weapons and surveillance equipment in Arunachal Pradesh within an aerial distance of 50 kilometres from the highly sensitive Line of Actual Control, sources said.
The initiative to hand over the land of the Mandala and Kamrala firing ranges, located at an altitude of above 10,000 feet, to the armed forces was taken by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
While the first of the integrated surveillance and firepower training exercises named 'Buland Bharat' has already been conducted at Mandala in May, a major firing exercise is yet to be conducted at the Kamrala firing range, security sources told PTI.
