Caliber Mining files draft IPO papers with Sebi; aims to raise Rs 600 crore

Caliber Mining and Logistics, a Nagpur-based coal mining and logistics provider, has filed preliminary papers with the capital markets regulator Sebi to mobilise Rs 600 crore through an initial public offering. The initial public offering (IPO) is a combination of fresh issue of equity shares worth up to Rs 500 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) of shares aggregate to Rs 100 crore by the promoters, according to the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP). The company may consider a pre-IPO placement of shares worth up to Rs 100 crore. If the pre-IPO placement is completed, the size of the fresh issue will be reduced.

The Namo Bharat train entered the national capital on Sunday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating a 13-km section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to New Ashok Nagar here. Modi also took a ride on a Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar. During his journey, the prime minister interacted with people, including children. With the inauguration of the Delhi section of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, Meerut city is now directly connected to Delhi and commuters can reach Meerut South in just 40 minutes.

Telangana sets record with 55,143 govt jobs filled in a year, says CM Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday claimed that his government has recruited 55,143 government employees in a single year, calling it "unprecedented" in the country. Speaking at an event to distribute Rs 1 lakh cheques to civil services aspirants under the 'Rajiv Gandhi Civil Services Abhaya Hastam' programme, Reddy said the state government has already filled 55,143 posts in various government departments in the first year of assuming power, and it is unprecedented in the country. "Telangana has become a model for the nation," he said, according to a release from the Chief Minister's Office.

The BJP on Sunday flayed the Congress for alleging Chinese occupation of the Indian territory during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's term and said the grand old party cannot get away with "such lies" as all of it occurred during Jawaharlal Nehru's tenure. The BJP's reaction came a day after the Congress alleged in a post on X, "China kept occupying India's land. Narendra Modi kept giving clean chit." Reacting sharply, BJP IT department head Amit Malviya said the Congress has the "dishonesty" to speak of Chinese annexation of the Indian territory despite the fact that all of it occurred during Nehru's tenure as the prime minister.

Anti-corruption activist Anjali Damania on Sunday said the ongoing investigation into the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh was "hogwash" and asserted police from outside that district must helm the probe for the truth to come out. Massajog sarpanch Deshmukh was murdered on December 9 for attempting to stop an extortion bid on an energy firm operating a windmill project in the region. The Special Investigation Team of the state CID is probing Deshmukh's murder as well as the extortion case linked to his death.

Govt to launch another round of PLI scheme for steel sector on Monday

The government will launch another round of production-linked incentive scheme for the steel sector on Monday. The 'PLI scheme 1.1' will be launched by the steel minister H D Kumaraswamy. "Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries...will launch 'PLI scheme 1.1' for the steel industry and call for applications...on January 6," the steel ministry said in a statement. To encourage domestic production of specialty steel and lower imports by drawing in capital investments, the government had earlier introduced the PLI scheme for specialty steel.

Drone over Jagannath temple in Odisha's Puri triggers security scare, probe on

An investigation was started after a drone was spotted over the revered Jagannath temple in Puri in the early hours of Sunday, police said. The drone was spotted over the temple around 4:10 am and it kept hovering for nearly half an hour, raising security concerns as the area is a no-flying zone. Different teams have been formed to investigate the incident, a police officer said. Expressing concern, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said, "Flying a drone over the temple is illegal and not acceptable. Strong legal action would be taken against the person who breached the security."
