South Korea to compile transcript of voice recording from crashed plane today
Investigators on Saturday expect to compile the complete transcript from the cockpit voice recorder recovered from the wreckage of the Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 that crashed on Sunday in South Korea, the transport ministry said in a statement. The ministry said investigators have recovered one of the plane's two engines and plan to retrieve the other on Saturday. They also aim to study the plane's tail and landing gear at the crash scene. The ministry, which is conducting checks on all of the Boeing 737-800 planes operated by Korean airlines, plans to require immediate corrective measures if problems are found.

UAPA Tribunal confirms Centre's decision to ban Sikhs for Justice for 5 years
Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) Tribunal has confirmed the Centre's July 8 notification declaring the Gurpatwant Singh Pannun-led Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) as an unlawful organization for five years. The tribunal, led by Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta of the Delhi High Court, on Friday, found the Centre's evidence against SFJ compelling. The evidence highlighted activities such as recruiting and radicalizing youth via social media, financing terrorism through smuggling networks to procure weapons and explosives, issuing death threats to political figures, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, and attempting to incite mutiny among Sikh soldiers in the Army.

At least four killed, several injured in Haryana as fog leads to fierce road accident
A car collided with the divider and flipped over due to dense fog on the Hisar-Chandigarh National Highway near Sorewala Chowk in Ulkana on Saturday morning. Another car that came from behind also crashed into it. When some people arrived for rescue operations, a truck coming from behind ran over them. The truck then also flipped over. Four people are reported to have died in the accident, and several others are injured.

Dense fog in Kashmir valley hits flight operations at Srinagar airport
Flight operations at the Srinagar airport were hit on Saturday due to dense fog that engulfed parts of the Kashmir valley, officials said. A thick layer of fog engulfed Kashmir, including Srinagar, in the morning, they said. Poor visibility due to the fog affected operations at the airport and all morning flights were delayed, they added. The officials said, "Due poor visibility at Srinagar airport, no flight operations have taken place so far." All airlines have rescheduled their morning operations till the visibility improves.

Heavy security deployed in Manipur's Kangpokpi after attack on SP office
Security was beefed up in Manipur's Kangpokpi district where the SP was injured in a mob attack for failing to "remove" the central armed forces as per the demands of Kuki groups, officials said. A mob on Friday evening attacked the office of Superintendent of Police M Prabhakar, throwing stones and other "projectiles" to vent their anger over the continued deployment of central forces, particularly the BSF and the CRPF, in the Saibol village. Vehicles of district police kept within the compound of the SP's office were vandalised. Prabhakar was injured after being hit on the forehead by some projectile, officials said.

Two killed, four injured as speeding car hits pedestrians in Jabalpur
Two persons were killed, and four others sustained injuries after a speeding car hit them in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city, police said on Saturday. The accident occurred in the Vijay Nagar area around 10 pm on Friday, an official said. Sanjay Patel (46), a doctor, was at the wheel and has been taken into custody, inspector Virendra Singh Pawar told PTI. Two pedestrians died, and four others were injured and are undergoing treatment at a hospital, he said.
