Kailash Gahlot takes charge, returns as Delhi transport minister
AAP MLA from Najafgarh Kailash Gahlot on Tuesday took charge as the minister for transport, home, administrative reforms and women and child development in the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Atishi. Gahlot has retained the same portfolios he held in the previous government led by Arvind Kejriwal. After taking charge, Gahlot said, "My only goal is to work for the people of Delhi as earlier and make our leader Arvind Kejriwal the chief minister again."

Five wagons of empty goods train derail in Bengal, none injured: Northeast Frontier Railway
Five wagons of an empty goods train derailed at New Maynaguri railway station in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday morning, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident that occurred at 6.20 am, they said.The empty goods train coming from Guwahati was moving towards New Jalpaiguri railway station near Siliguri. Train movement on the route was partially restored at 12.30 pm, Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurduar, Amar jit Gautam said.

Row over OBC list: Bengal govt seeks early hearing of plea against HC verdict
The West Bengal government on Tuesday sought an urgent hearing on its plea in the Supreme Court against a Calcutta High Court verdict striking down the OBC status of several castes, mostly Muslim groups, for granting reservation to them in public sector jobs and state-run educational institutions. The top court bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud was told by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the Trinamool Congress-led state government, that the plea along with other petitions needed to be heard as the issues like issuance of OBC certificate is stalled.

2019 Pulwama terror attack accused dies of heart attack in Jammu hospital
A 32-year-old man chargesheeted in the deadly terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district five years ago has died of a heart attack in the Government Medical College Hospital here, officials said. Bilal Ahmad Kuchey of Kakapora's Hajibal village was among 19 people formally charged in the case. Forty CRPF personnel were killed and eight more injured when a terrorist of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad rammed his explosive-laden car into a convoy in Pulwama's Lethpora on February 14, 2019.

RBI must step in: Cong on SBI 'buying' equity in defaulter Supreme Infrastructure
The Congress on Tuesday slammed the SBI's reported decision to convert its outstanding debt into equity in Supreme Infrastructure India Limited (SIIL), urging the Reserve Bank of India to step in and examine SBI's decision-making process in this matter. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh shared on X a media report which claimed that the State Bank of India (SBI) will take a dual role in the debt restructuring of defaulter SIIL with the country's largest public sector bank transitioning from being SIIL's primary creditor to becoming an equity stakeholder.

Kerala HC dismisses actor Sidhique's anticipatory bail plea in rape case
The Kerala High Court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Malayalam film actor Sidhique in a rape case registered against him based on a complaint by an actress. "Application is dismissed," Justice C S Dias said. The detailed order giving reasons for rejecting the actor's plea is not yet available.
Sidhique, who was booked for offences under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), has claimed in his plea that the complainant female actor, has subjected him to the "prolonged campaign of harassment and false accusations since 2019".

Badlapur sexual assault case: Relatives claim wrong to say accused fired at cop first
The family members of Badlapur sexual assault case accused Akshay Shinde have challenged the police claim that he fired at a policeman first following which cops fired in self-defence which led to his death. Shinde's kin also claimed that police pressured him for a confession in the sexual assault case. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday night said a high-level probe has been ordered into the incidents leading to Shinde's death.
