Yoon replaces defence minister as South Korea's parliament nears a vote on their impeachments

South Korea's president replaced his defence minister Thursday as opposition parties moved to impeach both men over the stunning yet short-lived imposition of martial law that brought armed troops into Seoul streets. The main opposition Democratic Party and other small opposition parties submitted a joint motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol on Wednesday over his martial law declaration the previous night.

CJI administers oath of office to Justice Manmohan as SC judge

Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna on Thursday administered oath of office to Delhi High Court Chief Justice Manmohan as a judge of the Supreme Court. Justice Manmohan was administered oath of office during a swearing-in ceremony held in the apex court. With the swearing-in of Justice Manmohan, the working strength of the apex court has risen to 33 against the sanctioned 34 judges, including the CJI.

Send political delegation to Sambhal: SP MLA to UP govt Sambhal

Samajwadi Party MLA Iqbal Mehmood has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to send a political delegation to meet the families of victims of the November 24 violence in Sambhal district. Council of ministers in Jharkhand to take oath today

The council of ministers of the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand will take oath on Thursday, officials said. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will administer the oath to ministers at the Raj Bhavan here. According to the Raj Bhavan, the swearing-in ceremony will begin with Stephen Marandi, the Protem Speaker, taking the oath around noon. Marandi, a senior JMM MLA, was appointed Protem Speaker of the assembly after Soren took oath as the chief minister on November 28.
