At least three persons, including two women, were killed and nine others hospitalised after a gas leak following a blast in a reactor at a fertiliser plant in Maharashtra’s Sangli district. The incident took place around 6.30pm on Thursday at the Myanmar Chemical Company in Shalgaon MIDC of Kadegaon tehsil in the district.

Supreme Court agrees to hear Sisodia's pleas seeking relaxation of bail condition
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear AAP leader Manish Sisodia's pleas seeking relaxation of bail condition which require him to report to the investigating officer on every Monday and Thursday in the corruption and money laundering cases related to Delhi excise policy. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seeking their responses on Sisodia's applications.

'Sanatan Dharma' remark case: Supreme Court defers hearing plea of TN Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin
The Supreme Court today deferred the hearing on a plea of Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin seeking clubbing of multiple FIRs lodged against him over his purported "eradicate Sanatan Dharma" remark. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar posted the hearing in February, 2025.
It further said the interim order granting the politician exemption from appearing physically before trial courts would continue till further orders.

Security forces kill 10 Naxalites in Chhattisgarh encounter
Ten Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Friday, a senior police official said. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed security forces and said the era of peace and progress has returned to the Bastar region, which includes Sukma. The gunfight broke out in the morning in a forest within the jurisdiction of the Bhejji police station when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation, said Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P.

Earthquake of 3.6 magnitude hits Manipur's Bishnupur
An earthquake of 3.6 magnitude hit Manipur's Bishnupur district early Friday morning, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property, police said. The tremor occurred at 4:42 am and was centred in the Bishnupur region at a depth of 10 km with latitude 24.64 degree north and longitude 93.83 degree east, it said.

Delhi air quality remains in 'very poor' category
The national capital's air quality remained in the "very poor" category recording an overall AQI of 373. Out of 38 monitoring stations in the city, nine reported Air Quality Index (AQI) readings in the "severe" range. These stations are Anand Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Nehru Nagar, Shadipur, Sonia Vihar, Vivek Vihar, and Wazirpur, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
