Dusu election results to be announced on November 21

The results for the Delhi University Students' Union elections will be declared on November 21, almost two months after the polls were held, according to university officials. The elections were held on September 27 and the results were originally scheduled to be announced the next day. Out of 1.45 lakh eligible voters, 51,379 students cast their votes this year, marking the lowest turnout in at least 10 years.

Former BRS MLA detained in connection with attack on district authorities

Former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy was detained here on Wednesday in connection with the attack on district authorities in Telangana's Vikarabad district during a public hearing on land acquisition, police said. He (Patnam Narender Reddy) is being questioned, they said. Sixteen people have been arrested for allegedly attacking officials after some villagers in Lagacharla village allegedly attacked them on Monday while protesting against acquisition of their lands for proposed pharmaceutical companies.

Sri Lanka set for parliamentary election, all arrangements in place

Sri Lanka is set to hold its parliamentary election on Thursday with all arrangements in place to ensure a fair and transparent process, a top election commission official has said. Voting will take place at over 13,314 polling stations across the country, from 7 am to 4 pm local time on Thursday. Over 17 million voters from the island's 21 million population are eligible to vote. 225 members would be elected from voting based on proportional representation.

Centre rushes 20 more CAPF companies to Manipur after fresh violence

The Centre has rushed 20 additional CAPF companies comprising about 2,000 personnel to Manipur in the wake of fresh attacks and law and order issues in the state, official sources said Wednesday. The sources told PTI that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued orders on Tuesday night for airlifting and immediate deployment of these units.

"I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)," Trump announced. "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies -- essential to the 'Save America' Movement," he said.

Goods train derails in Telangana's Peddapalli; 20 trains cancelled, 10 diverted

Eleven wagons of the goods train carrying iron ore derailed between Raghavapuram and Ramagundam on Tuesday late night, they said. This lead to the cancellation of 20 passenger trains, officials of South Central Railway (SCR) said on Wednesday.Due to derailment of the goods train, as many as 20 passenger trains were cancelled, four were partially cancelled and 10 were diverted, a release from the SCR zone said. Two trains were also rescheduled and three were regulated, it added.

Thick smog coats Delhi-NCR; AQI falls to 'severe' category
