Mohan Bhagwat to attend RSS' 10-day National Executive meet in Mathura from Saturday

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is set to arrive in Parkham village of the Farah development block on Saturday to attend the National Executive meeting of the Sangh. During his stay, the RSS chief will participate in various meetings, including the National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for October 25 and 26. He will also review the ongoing developments at the Cow Research and Training Centre. This meeting will take place at the Deendayal Gau Vigyan Research and Training Centre in Mathura, where he will stay for 10 days.

BJP leader Tejasvi Surya has claimed that Jagdambika Pal, the chairperson of the joint parliamentary committee on the Waqf Amendment bill, was threatened by the members of the Opposition during a meeting of the panel. In a letter to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Surya alleged that the opposition MPs displayed “unparliamentary behaviour” on October 14 when the JPC had called ex-Karnataka State Minorities Commission chairperson Anwar Manipaddy to hear his views on the Waqf land "scam" in Karnataka.

Supreme Court rejects plea for cases' disposal within fixed time, says 'not American SC'

Stating that it was not the "American Supreme Court", the top court quashed a plea seeking directions for the disposal of cases pending before all the courts in the country within a fixed time frame. A bench of Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra observed that the plea sought disposal of all cases in courts, including the apex court, between 12 and 36 months. "We are not the American Supreme Court," remarked the top court after the petitioner highlighted the presence of a time frame for disposal of cases in other countries.

World Bank, ADB commit $1.6 bn for Andhra capital Amaravati from Jan 2025

The World Bank along with the Asian Development Bank in principle has committed to fund Rs 13,600 crore for Amaravati capital city phase-I development and will start releasing the amount from January next year, a senior official of the Andhra Pradesh government has said. Of the total cost of Rs 15,000 crore for the phase-I development, the Central government will be funding the remaining Rs 1,400 crore, the official said.

People's Democratic Party (PDP) today asserted that the Jammu and Kashmir government's first reported resolution demanding restoration of statehood and not Article 370, was a "huge setback" and nothing less than the ratification of the Centre's 2019 decisions. Another political party, the People's Conference, has also questioned the secrecy over the resolution. The reactions came after a Jammu-based newspaper 'Daily Excelsior' carried a report that the cabinet had passed a resolution urging the Centre to restore J-K's statehood.

Enforcement Directorate conducts raids in MUDA case

 The Enforcement Directorate today conducted searches in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) matter in which it has booked Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his family members and others, news agency PTI reported citing sources. The MUDA office in Mysuru and some other locations are being raided by the federal probe agency officials along with an escort of a central paramilitary force.
