Mizoram: Over 350 gm of heroin seized, 3 arrested

A total of 350 gm of heroin has been seized in two separate incidents in Mizoram's Champhai district recently and three persons have been arrested, an official statement said. Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department and personnel of Assam Rifles launched a joint operation in the area between Zote village and Tiau River near the India-Myanmar border on Friday and seized 48 gm of heroin.

Man loses Rs 21.9 lakh in Bitcoin fraud in Thane district

A 33-year-old man from Maharashtra's Thane district was allegedly cheated of Rs 21.9 lakh by cyber fraudsters who lured him to trade in Bitcoin, police said. The complainant, a resident of Dombivli, received a call from an overseas phone number, and the caller lured him to trade in Bitcoin, assuring him of lucrative returns. He said the man transferred Rs 21.9 lakh from November 8 to December 3. However, when he sought returns on his investment, the fraudsters did not respond to his calls or messages.

Search operation launched after suspicious movement detected in J&K's Kathua

A search operation was launched in the Hiranagar town area of Kathua district following suspicious movement of three persons today, officials said. Speaking to reporters, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Shobhit Saxena said that since Sunday night, a joint operation has been carried out to search the area in collaboration with the Army, Special Operations Group (SOG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other agencies.

Winter action plan: Delhi govt sets up 230 tents for homeless

Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has set up 235 pagoda tents to provide shelter to homeless individuals during cold winter nights, according to officials. According to the Delhi government's winter action plan 2024-25 launched on November 15, a total of 250 tents are to be set up. The remaining 15 tents have been reserved for an emergency.

Man booked for attempting to deposit counterfeit currency at bank in Thane district

A case has been registered against a 48-year-old man who allegedly tried to deposit counterfeit currency in a cooperative bank in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said. The Dombivli police have registered a case against the accused under section 179 (using as genuine, forged or counterfeit coin, government stamp, currency notes, or bank notes) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), an official said.

Abduction attempt foiled in Manipur's capital, militant nabbed

An abduction attempt was foiled by Manipur Police in Imphal's Thangal Bazaar area and two persons were rescued, a police statement said. Tensubam Bangkim, a militant belonging to the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibangnganba) outfit was nabbed from Imphal West district in connection with the incident on Saturday, it said. A 9 mm pistol along with seven cartridges, and a four-wheeler were also seized from the militant.

Two policemen found dead with bullet injuries in J&K's Udhampur

Two police personnel were found dead with bullet injuries in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district early Sunday, with officials suspecting it to be a case of fratricide. The slain policemen were travelling from north Kashmir's Sopore to the Subsidary Training Centre (STC) Talwara in Reasi district of Jammu region, the officials said. The bullet-riddled bodies of the cops were seen lying inside a police van near the Kali Mata temple in Rehembal area of Udhampur around 6.30 am, the officials said.

Farmers resume 'Delhi Chalo' protest, Police tightens security at Shambu border

The farmer protest group have announced the resumption of 'Delhi Chalo' march on Sunday. Due to security concerns, Delhi police have set up barricades and installed nails at the Shambhu Border. Farmer representative Sarwan Singh Pandher denounced the "brutality" farmers experienced at the Shambhu border while asserting that no laws had been broken.
