Alert sounded in many Bihar districts in view of Bangladesh situation

An alert has been sounded in many parts of Bihar in the wake of the unrest in neighbouring Bangladesh, a top police official said on Tuesday. According to Additional Director of Police (Headquarters), J S Gangwar, the alert was issued in the districts situated close to Bangladesh.

Senior BJP leader LK Advani admitted to Delhi's Apollo hospital

Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani was on Tuesday admitted to a leading private hospital in Delhi. His medical condition is stable, they said. The 96-year-old, who was born in undivided India, was admitted to the Apollo hospital here today, a hospital source told PTI. In the first week of July too, Advani was brought to this facility and discharged after being kept under observation for a couple of days.

Prohibited animal meat seized in Mumbai; 4 held

The Mumbai police have seized around 400 kg of prohibited animal meat being carried in a tempo and arrested four persons in this connection, an official said on Tuesday.Acting on a tip, the police laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle in Kandivali area here on Sunday. Nearly 400 kg of cow meat was seized from the tempo and four persons, including a beef shop owner, were arrested, the Kandivali police official said.

Kerala landslides: Schools in affected areas to commence soon, says minister

Kerala General Education and Labour Minister V Sivankutty on Tuesday said that classes will soon commence in the schools in landslides-hit Wayanad which are being used as relief camps now and financial assistance will be provided to workers affected by the disaster.
Sivankutty said that many schools were functioning as relief camps and after holding a meeting with teachers, PTA and other stakeholders it was decided to commence classes within 10-20 days.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday told an all-party meeting that India has assured help to former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who arrived here on Monday evening, and given her time to decide the future course of action, sources said. Briefing political party leaders in Parliament House, Jaishankar said India has spoken to the Bangladesh Army Chief to ensure the safety of over 10,000 Indian students in that country.
