No relief from pollution, Delhi air remains 'very poor'

Delhi's air quality remained 'very poor' on Wednesday morning with a thin layer of smog covering several parts of the national capital for the sixth consecutive day post-Diwali. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 358 as of 8 am today.

Encounter breaks out between security forces, militants in J-K's Kupwara

An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said. Based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces during the night in Margi area of Lolab in the north Kashmir district. Officials said contact was established with the militants and a firefight began. Exchange of fire was going on and the operation is in progress.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri offered prayers and paid obeisance at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar in Dubai. The Minister shared the details of his visit on the social media platform X, where he said that during his visit he also interacted with the Sikh Sangat members in Dubai. Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar was built in 2012 and draws inspiration from both traditional and modern architectural styles. It is the first and largest Gurudwara in the Gulf region.

As per the release dated November 5, Chandrakant Handore has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee while Nana Gawande has been appointed as the Convener of the committee.

Three die after under-construction bridge of bullet train project collapses in Gujarat

Three labourers died after an under-construction bridge of the bullet train project collapsed in Gujarat's Anand district, said a fire official on Tuesday. Dharmesh Gor, Anand Fire Officer said that earlier, the fire department rescued two labourers and two dead bodies during the rescue operation, however, one of the rescued labourers died in the hospital.

Mortal remains of Sharda Sinha being taken to Patna for last rites

The mortal remains of the legendary folk singer Sharda Sinha on Wednesday early morning reached the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport as her last rites will be performed in Patna. Renowned folk singer, known as the 'Bihar Kokila,' Sharda Sinha passed away on Tuesday at around 9.20 pm due to refractory shock as a result of 'septicaemia'. Sinha was battling with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, which was diagnosed in 2018. Her condition deteriorated on Monday, after which she was placed on a ventilator.

Speaking at a BJP workers' meeting organized in Shiggaon city of Haveri district on Tuesday, Karnataka's former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai said "When Ambedkar proposed reservation, the Congress leaders of that time did not agree to it. It was only after discussions with Mahatma Gandhi and the Pune Pact that reservation was implemented. What is the purpose of this freedom if the oppressed communities of this country do not receive equality and justice?"
