Trump added that Washington will not spare New Delhi from reciprocal tariffs. "Whatever India charges, we will charge them," Trump said, adding "We are being reciprocal with India. Robert F Kennedy Jr was sworn in Thursday as President Donald Trump's health secretary after a close Senate vote, putting the prominent vaccine sceptic in control of $1.7 trillion in federal spending, vaccine recommendations and food safety. Nearly all Republicans fell in line behind Trump despite hesitancy over Kennedy's views on vaccines. Democrats unanimously opposed Kennedy. Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, who had polio as a child, was the only “no” vote among Republicans, mirroring his stands against Trump's picks for the Pentagon chief and director of national intelligence.

The BJP on Friday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit as "landmark" and slammed Rahul Gandhi for his remarks, alleging that the Congress leader is suffering from a disease that keeps him obsessed with "Adani, Hindenburg and Rafale".

CRPF pays tribute to martyrs of Pulwama attack

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today paid tributes to the 40 jawans who were killed in the Pulwama attack on Jammu-Srinagar national highway on the sixth anniversary of the terror attack. "A solemn ceremony organised at Lethpora-Pulwama to pay homage and respect to the martyrs of CRPF who attained martyrdom in line of duty on 14/2/2019 in Pulwama," a spokesman of the CRPF said.

Supreme Court junks plea by Jayalalithaa heir to return confiscated assets in DA case

The Supreme Court rejected a plea filed by the legal heir of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa seeking the return of the properties confiscated in a case against her and said abatement of proceedings did not mean she was acquitted of the crime. A bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma referred to its observations in the 2017 judgment in State of Karnataka v. J Jayalalithaa where proceedings stood abated as she died during the pendency of the appeal.
