Mpox patient at LNJP hospital stable, no need to panic, says Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj

The mpox patient admitted at LNJP Hospital here is in a stable condition, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Tuesday. Bharadwaj conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital to assess preparations for dealing with mpox and dengue. "There is one confirmed patient of mpox at LNJP hospital. He has a travel history and it's believed that he got infected during his travel abroad," the minister said.

West Bengal school jobs row: SC to hear pleas challenging HC verdict on Sept 24

A Bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said it would hear on September 24 the pleas of the West Bengal government and others challenging a Calcutta High Court order that invalidated the appointment of 25,753 teachers and non-teaching staff in state government and aided schools. The Bench said it may not be able to hear the batch of pleas, listed on Tuesday, due to the hearing of some other matters during the day. "We will list it on September 24," the CJI said.

Over 140 Ukrainian drones overnight targeted multiple Russian regions, including the capital Moscow and the surrounding areas, Russian officials reported Tuesday, in one of the biggest Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian soil in the 2 1/2-year war.

In the town of Ramenskoye just outside Moscow, drones hit two multistory residential buildings and started fires, Moscow region Gov. Andrei Vorobyov said.

70 kg cement blocks kept on Railway tracks in bid to derail train in Ajmer

 Railway officials stated on Tuesday that an attempt to derail a loaded goods train was made in Rajasthan's Ajmer district by reportedly putting two cement blocks, weighing around 70 kg each,  on tracks of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. A goods train did hit the blocks but nothing untoward occurred.

Yechury in 'critical' condition, on respiratory support at AIIMS: CPI (M)

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury's condition is "critical" and he is on respiratory support at AIIMS here, his party said on Tuesday.  Yechury was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 19 for the treatment of a pneumonia-like chest infection. The 72-year-old Yechury is being treated for acute respiratory tract infection at the ICU in AIIMS, it said in a statement.

UP govt should ensure justice for reserved category: Mayawati on teachers recruitment case

The Uttar Pradesh government should adopt an honest stand in the teachers recruitment case and ensure no injustice is done to reserved category candidates, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said on Tuesday. Her statement comes a day after the Supreme Court stayed an Allahabad High Court order which had asked the state government to prepare a fresh selection list for 69,000 assistant teachers in the state over complaints related to reservation formula.
