Tuesday morning marks the return of rains to Mumbai after a fortnight-long break

After a dry spell since early August, rains made a comeback in Mumbai on Tuesday morning, bringing relief from heat and humidity. Most parts of the city have been getting light to moderate rainfall with thunder from around 9.30 am, while some areas like Bandra and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) witnessed heavy spell of rain.

 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partially cloudy sky with possibility of light to moderate spells of rain and thundershowers in the city and suburbs for the next 24 hours starting this morning, an official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

School bus stuck in Delhi's waterlogged Minto Bridge underpass, 3 rescued

Three children were rescued from a school bus which got stuck in the waterlogged Minto Bridge underpass in northwest Delhi on Tuesday following morning rain, officials said. An autorickshaw was also stuck in the underpass, they said. According to the officials, no one was injured in any of the incidents as rescue teams quickly reached the spot. The water is being pumped out, an official said.

 

The Minto Bridge underpass is infamous for waterlogging during monsoon. In July 2020, a man drowned after his mini-truck got stuck in the underpass.

Police arrest 2 more in connection with alleged swapping of blood samples

2 more held for alleged swapping of blood samples; total arrests reach 9. The Pune police have arrested two more persons in connection with the alleged swapping of blood samples in the Porsche car crash case, a top official said on Tuesday. With the arrest of the duo late Monday night, the number of persons held in the Porsche car crash case has gone up to nine, the police said.

 

The high-end car allegedly driven by the minor under the influence of alcohol knocked down two motorbike-borne IT professionals in the wee hours of May 19, killing them.

News Update: 7 killed, 6 injured in MP as autorickshaw rams into truck

Seven killed, six injured as autorickshaw rams into a truck in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh

The accident took place under the Civil Line police station limits when the rickshaw was going towards Bageshwar on Khajuraho-Jhansi highway around 5 am, a police official said.

 

"Thirteen persons were travelling in the auto-rickshaw and seven of them were killed while six others injured after the vehicle collided with a truck on Jhansi-Khajuraho Road," Superintendent of Police (SP) Agam Jain said.

Bengal govt forms SIT to probe into financial irregularities at RG Kar hospital

The West Bengal government has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe into alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the body of a postgraduate trainee doctor was found earlier this month, according to a notification. The four-member SIT will be headed by Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy IG Dr Pranav Kumar.
