Will repair 89 damaged roads, potholes before assembly elections: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday said the Aam Aadmi Party government will restart various works, including road repairs, that were allegedly stalled by the BJP while AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was in jail. Atishi told a press conference here that to begin with her government will repair damaged roads before the assembly elections due early next year. She said the party has identified 89 damaged PWD (Public Works Department) roads for strengthening.

Amit Shah chairs meeting of chief ministers of Naxal-hit states

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday reviewed the security situation in Naxal-affected regions with the chief ministers and top officials of the insurgency-hit states, officials said, days after security forces killed 31 ultras in the forests of Chhattisgarh. The states affected by the menace include Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu was accorded a ceremonial welcome and given a guard of honour in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. The Maldivian president, who is accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a Maldivian delegation, arrived in India on Sunday evening. President Droupadi Murmu welcomed the visiting dignitaries at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present on the occasion.

Services delayed on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line

Commuters faced inconvenience on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line as services were affected during the morning rush hour on Monday. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the services were delayed between Haiderpur Badli Mor and Jahangirpuri stations due to a technical reason. They didn't specify the exact reason.The Yellow Line runs between the Millennium City Centre in Gurugram and Samaypur Badli in Delhi.

Protesting junior doctors in West Bengal continued their fast-unto-death for the third consecutive day on Monday, demanding justice for the rape and murder of a woman medic of the RG Kar hospital and workplace safety even as the state government remained silent to address their issues. Six junior medics have been on the fast-onto-death since Saturday evening and later one more joined them.

Earlier in September, the Ministry of Home Affairs gave the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sanction to prosecute  former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in the land-for-job case. The case is related to alleged irregularities during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as union railway minister from 2004 to 2009, during which jobs were reportedly offered in exchange for land parcels transferred or gifted to Lalu Prasad’s family or associates.

Man electrocuted at Ramlila fair in east Delhi

A 20-year-old man was electrocuted to death while repairing an LED panel at a Ramlila fair in east Delhi, police said on Monday. Veeru, a resident of Shahdara, was repairing the panel at the Ramlila organised at the CBD Ground near Karkardooma court in Anand Vihar area on Sunday evening when the accident took place. "A police team rushed to the spot soon after getting the information. Veeru was taken to the Hedgewar Hospital where doctors declared him dead," a police official said.
