MP Priyanka Chaturvedi writes to RS Chairman over "political sloganeering by visitors", seeks action

Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has written to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar requesting urgent action against 'political sloganeering by visitors' in the House gallery on Thursday.

"I have written a letter to RS Chairman. When proceedings in the House were underway on September 21, visitors, especially females, were thronging the gallery. Political slogans were raised from one of the galleries. The opposition parties had registered their protests with the Chairman, who had ensured to take strict action," she told ANI on Sunday.

US provided Canada intelligence on Nijjar's killing: NYT

The US provided Canada with intelligence after the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, but communications intercepted by Ottawa were more definitive and led it to accuse India of orchestrating the plot, The New York Times has reported citing sources.

The report came on Saturday as the top US diplomat in Canada confirmed that there was shared intelligence among Five Eyes partners that had prompted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's offensive allegation against India in the killing of a Khalistani extremist on Canadian soil.

Scindia, CM Khandu to inaugurate upgraded Tezu Airport today in Arunachal

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia, along with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, will inaugurate the revamped Tezu airport in Arunchal Pradesh's Lohit district on Sunday.

"A new Terminal Building at Tezu Airport is scheduled for inauguration on September 24, 2023. Currently, this domestic airport operates with a single runway and covers an area of 212 acres," the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a post on X.

16-year-old boy sustains multiple injuries after assault at Delhi school; 4 teachers booked

A 16-year-old boy, studying in Class 10, sustained multiple injuries after being assaulted allegedly by four of his school teachers in the Yamuna Vihar area of Delhi, officials said.

According to the police, an FIR was registered against four teachers at North-East Delhi's Bhajanpura police station in connection with the alleged assault. The four were booked on a complaint filed by the mother of the 16-year-old.

Fatal collision: School principal, student killed as bus rams into stationary truck in Rajasthan's Barmer

A government school principal and a girl student were killed after a bus they were travelling in with 27 others rammed into a dumper parked on roadside in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Saturday night, police said.

The deceased school principal has been identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, while the girl student as Savina. This tragic incident occurred around 8:00 pm near Sehlau village.

Assam police arrest drug peddler from Cachar with Yaba tablets worth Rs 2 cr

Assam Police on Saturday arrested a drug peddler and seized a large quantity of contraband drugs from his possession in Cachar district, officials said.

The estimated value of the seized contraband drugs is around Rs 2 crore, they said. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Azad Uddin Barlaskar (31).

Pope Francis has labelled the weapons industry as being a key driver of the martyrdom of Ukraine's people in Russia's war, saying even the withholding of weapons now is going to continue their misery.
 
He described the paradox that was keeping Ukraine a martyred people that at first many countries gave Ukraine weapons and now are taking them away. Francis has long denounced the weapons industry as merchants of death, but he has also asserted the right of countries to defend themselves.

No right to insult new Parliament: BJP hits back at Congress' Jairam Ramesh

Condemning the remarks of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh over the new Parliament building, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravishankar Prasad on Saturday said that the new building is made in India in the true sense and that the Rajya Sabha MP of the grand old party has no right to insult it.
 
"The new Parliament building is made in India in the true sense...You have no right to insult the Parliament by saying all this...I condemn this statement on behalf of the party," Prasad said. The BJP leader's reaction came after Congress leader Jairam Ramesh slammed the new Parliament building and termed it "Modi Multiplex or Modi Marriot".

PM Modi to flag off 9 Vande Bharat Express trains in 11 states today

The states that will benefit from the launch of Vande Bharat trains include Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand and Gujarat, read a press release from the PM Office.
 
The new trains that will be flagged off are Udaipur - Jaipur Vande Bharat Express, Tirunelveli-Madurai- Chennai Vande Bharat Express, Hyderabad -Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, Vijayawada - Chennai (via Renigunta) Vande Bharat Express, Patna - Howrah Vande Bharat Express, Kasaragod - Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express, Rourkela - Bhubaneswar - Puri Vande Bharat Express, Ranchi - Howrah Vande Bharat Express andJamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express.
