The Congress on Saturday accused the Karnataka BJP of attempting to destabilise its government in the southern state.

Sharing a media report which quoted first-time Congress MLA Ravikumar Gowda (Ganiga) as saying that a team of BJP leaders is approaching lawmakers with offers to defect, Congress general secretary organization, K C Venugopal, slammed the BJP in a post on X.

"A party without a leader or an agenda is resorting to their old habit of undoing the people's mandate," he said.

2 EAC-PM members on 5-day Nagaland tour, to meet with key stakeholders

Two members of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) have arrived in Nagaland on a five-day visit during which they will hold discussions with key stakeholders, and look at ways to bolster development of the region, officials said.

The members Sanjeev Sanyal and Devi Prasad Mishra arrived in the northeastern state on Friday, a release issued by the Nagaland Planning & Transformation Department said.

The visit focuses on catalysing economic growth and development in the region, and holds promise for strengthening vital sectors as well as forging collaborations, it said.

India on Friday abstained from voting in the UN General Assembly on a Jordanian-drafted resolution titled 'Protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations' that called for an immediate humanitarian truce in the Israel-Hamas conflict and unhindered humanitarian access in the Gaza strip.

The 193-member General Assembly adopted the resolution that called for an immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities.

Pakistan: Terrorists carried out two attacks on security forces

Terrorists launched two separate attacks on security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media and public relations wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces as quoted by ARY News.

In the Tirah area of Khyber District, an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) was conducted, resulting in an intense exchange of fire.

As a result, one terrorist was killed, and two terrorists were injured and subsequently apprehended by security forces, the ISPR said in a statement.

Chhattisgarh polls: Rahul to address rallies in 4 constituencies in 2 days

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address four public meetings in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Saturday and Sunday, a party functionary has said. Gandhi will arrive in Raipur at 11.45 am on Saturday and proceed to Bhanupratappur constituency to address a rally at 1 pm, Sushil Anand Shukla, head of the state Congress' communication wing, said on Friday. "He will address another rally in Farasgaon under Kondagaon assembly segment in Bastar region at 2.40 pm. On Sunday, he will address rallies in Rajnandgaon and Kawardha constituencies at 1 pm and 2.50 pm, respectively," Shukla said. These four seats are among the 20 that will go to polls in the first phase on November 7. Elections to the remaining 70 seats in the 90-member assembly will take place on November 17, while votes will be counted on December 3.

Biden to travel to San Francisco to host APEC Summit participants

US President Joe Biden will be travelling to San Francisco to host the representatives of the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation member economies for the APEC Economic Leaders' Week.

Biden, who will be leaving the White House on November 14, has also invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the APEC Leadership Summit, but his visit has not been confirmed yet.

Delhi air quality remains 'poor' for third consecutive day with AQI at 261

With the national capital's Air Quality Index (AQI) at 286, the overall air quality in Delhi continued to remain in the 'poor' category for the third day straight on Saturday morning, according to Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)-India.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB's) daily bulletin, Delhi's AQI as of 4 PM on October 27 was 261. It was more than the 256 recorded on October 26.

As stubble burning continues in parts of Punjab and Haryana, air quality in the national capital has worsened in the past few days. According to data, over 2,500 cases of stubble burning have been reported this year so far. However, the numbers are better than those of the previous two years.

Himachal: Some shops, tents gutted in fire at Kullu Dussehra festival, say officials

Some shops and tents were gutted in a fire at the Kullu Dussehra festival in Himachal Pradesh late Friday night, officials said.

Two people suffered injuries while dousing the fire and one of them was hospitalised, Kullu Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg said.

The incident took place at the Dussehra ground in front of the court complex. The fire has been brought under control, they said. The week-long festival began on October 24.

Arrested by ED, TMC Minister Jyotipriya Mallick admitted to hospital; condition 'stable'

West Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged multicrore ration scam, was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata yesterday evening after complaints of dizziness, nausea and vomiting, officials said on Saturday.

As per the medical bulletin of the arrested Bengal minister, released by the private hospital, Mallick was brought to the emergency department of the hospital around 7.05 pm with complaints of dizziness, nausea, vomiting and weakness of the left arm. "The patient was evaluated by the Emergency physician and a team of consultants consisting of Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology and Nephrology," the hospital said.
