Kerala’s tourism industry is staring at significant losses ahead of the peak season as a result of the fresh outbreak of Nipah virus in the state.

Last-minute trip cancellations in the affected areas have already shot up to 30 per cent. If the situation worsens and foreign countries impose travel restrictions and tighter visa regulations, it may deal a bigger blow to the state that has a diaspora of over four million living overseas.
