Malaysia's jailed ex-leader Najib wins appeal to pursue bid to serve corruption sentence at home

Malaysia's imprisoned former Prime Minister Najib Razak on Monday won an appeal to pursue his bid to serve his remaining corruption sentence under house arrest. In an application in April last year, Najib said he had clear information that then-King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah issued an addendum order allowing him to finish his sentence under house arrest.

Protesting farmers to meet high-powered committee today, SC told

A delegation of the protesting farmers at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana will be meeting the high-powered committee appointed by the Supreme Court at around 3 pm Monday. Among the protesting farmers is also septuagenarian Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite fast for the past 40 days, and whose health concerns has kept the Punjab government on toes with the top court keeping a close watch.

Beijing-based cyber group protests US sanctions for its alleged role in hacking incidents

China has slammed a decision by the US Treasury to sanction a Beijing-based cybersecurity company for its alleged role in multiple hacking incidents targeting critical US infrastructure. Asked about the sanctions against Beijing-based Integrity Technology Group, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the country has cracked down on cyber attacks and that Washington was using the issue to “defame and smear China.”

CAG report exposes Kejriwal's 'black deeds,' alleges BJP

The BJP on Monday claimed that a CAG report raised 139 questions related to former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's previous Flagstaff Road residence and "exposed his "black deeds". No immediate reaction was available from AAP on the charges. BJP's Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva said the report of 2022 cited an expenditure of Rs 33.86 crore on the "Sheesh Mahal" but the actual cost was far higher. "This report pertains to expenditure till 2022. There is no revelation on expenses of 2023 and 2024 and, according to our information, the real cost runs up to Rs 75-80 crore if the inventory of the items in the bungalow are included," he claimed.

India detects 1st suspected HMPV case in Bengaluru

India has detected its first suspected Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) case in Bengaluru in an eight-month old baby. “The case has come from Hunasanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district. "The child has been admitted to the Bengaluru Baptist Hospital,” sources from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said.

Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate has said the Ladki Bahin Yojana is creating a burden on the state coffers, affecting its ability to implement the farm loan waiver scheme. India's services PMI hits 59.3 in Dec 2024, indicating strong growth

The final India Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for December 2024 rose to 59.3 points, an increase from 58.4 points recorded in November, signalling growth in the country’s services sector, the HSBC Final India Services PMI, compiled by S&P Global, reported on Monday. 

 

The slight dip was observed in November, when the PMI fell to to 58.4 from 58.5 in October, did not deter the sector's overall momentum. The HSBC Final India PMI, also reflected positive trends during this period, highlighting growth in both hiring and sales.
