Oct vehicles sale: Hyundai, JSW MG's sales up, Tata Motors' marginally down

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Friday reported a 2 per cent increase in total sales at 70,078 units in October as compared to 68,728 units in the same month last year.

Domestic sales were up marginally at 55,568 units last month as compared to 55,128 units in October 2023, the newly listed firm said in a regulatory filing.

Exports were up 6.7 per cent at 14,510 units as compared to 13,600 units in the year-ago month, it added.

"We witnessed a strong demand for our SUV portfolio during festive period, leading to our highest-ever monthly SUV sales at 37,902 units, including the highest-ever monthly domestic sales of the Hyundai CRETA at 17,497 units," HMIL Chief Operating Officer, Tarun Garg said.

 

SUVs remain a cornerstone of the company's lineup, representing 68.2 per cent of the total monthly sales in October 2024, with similar penetration in urban as well as rural markets, he added. 

Tata Motors Ltd on Friday reported a marginal decline in its domestic and international sales at 82,682 units in October as compared to 82,954 units in the same month last year.
 
Total domestic sales were marginally up at 80,839 units last month against 80,825 units in the year-ago period, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing.
 
Overall passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including electric vehicles were down marginally at 48,423 units over 48,637 units a year ago.
 
Similarly, domestic PV sales were down at 48,131 units compared to 48,337 units in the year-ago month, the company said.
 
Tata Motors said its total commercial vehicle sales last month stood at 34,259 units, down from 34,317 units in October 2023. 
JSW MG Motor India on Friday reported a 31 per cent year-on-year rise in wholesales at 7,045 units in October 2024.
 
New energy vehicles (NEVs) remain a significant part of its overall sales, contributing over 70 per cent to the total volume in October, JSW MG Motor India said in a statement.
 
The newly introduced electric crossover utility vehicle Windsor clocked 3,116 units within the first month of its launch, it added. 
Honda vehicles sale  Honda Cars India on Friday said its total sales declined 23 per cent year-on-year to 10,080 units in October.
 
The automaker had dispatched 13,083 units to dealers in October 2023.
 
The company's domestic sales dipped 41 per cent to 5,546 units last month from 9,400 units in the year-ago period.
 
Its exports rose to 4,534 units last month against 3,683 units in October last year.
 
"The festive sales momentum in October with Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Dhanteras and Diwali celebrated in the same month contributed strongly to the customer deliveries at the dealerships. It surely revitalised demand compared to the previous few months of muted activity for the industry," Honda Cars India Vice President (Marketing & Sales) Kunal Behl said.
 
He further said, "Our dispatches and deliveries aligned with our expectations. Our focused approach to aligning production and inventory with demand positions us well to sustain this momentum".  Hero MotoCorp result 
Hero MotoCorp on Friday said its overall sales increased by 18 per cent year-on-year to 6,79,091 units in October.
 
The country's largest two-wheeler maker has sold 5,74,930 units in October 2023.
 
Domestic dispatches to dealers rose to 6,57,403 units compared to 5,59,766 units in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.
 
The company's exports rose to 21,688 units last month from 15,164 units in the year-ago period, it added.
 
This significant growth was primarily driven by robust demand from key urban and rural areas, particularly in the 100cc and 125cc segments during the festive period, the company said.
 
Hero MotoCorp said its electric vehicle brand VIDA continued to have a strong growth trajectory this year and achieved its highest-ever monthly dispatches, reaching 8,750 units in October 2024.
