Fuel consumption rises 6.2% to 20 mn tonnes in December, shows data

India's fuel consumption rose to a seven-month high in December to about 20.054 million metric tonnes, data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry showed.
 

Total consumption, a proxy for oil demand, in December rose by 6.2 per cent from 18.89 million tonnes in November, data showed. It was up around 2.6 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier. Read

Fall in prices of onion, tomato pushed cost of veg thali down 3% in Dec

Owing to the cooling of prices of onions and tomato, the cost of a vegetarian thali fell 3 per cent in December to Rs 29.7, as compared to Rs 30.5 in November, according to the Roti Rice Rate index released by rating agency CRISIL on Monday. The prices of a non-vegetarian thali fell 5 per cent month-on-month (MoM) owing to a cool down in the prices of broilers. Read

Auto retail sales in India grew 21% in December, 11% in 2023: Fada

Retail auto sales in India jumped 21 per cent in December 2023 to 1,990,915 units, as compared to 1,643,514 units in December 2022, according to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (Fada) on Monday. In the calendar year 2023, the retail sales were up 11 per cent to 23,867,990 units against 21,492,324 units in 2022. Read
