Stock Market LIVE Updates: Asian markets mixed

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Markets in the Asia-Pacific region were trading mixed on Christmas Eve, tracking the overnight gains on Wall Street. 

Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped 0.41 per cent as Bank of Japan’s October meeting minutes showed members agreeing to stick with raising rates if the economic and inflation outlook was met. The broader Topix too was marginally lower by 0.03 per cent.

South Korea’s Kospi was down 0.12 per cent while the Kosdaq was ahead by 0.23 per cent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.73 per cent, and mainland China’s CSI 300 was up 0.74 per cent, while the Shanghai Composite was ahead by 0.5 per cent. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was 0.11 per cent higher.

The S&P 500 gained 0.73 per cent to close at 5,974.07, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose 0.98 per cent to end 19,764.89, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 42,906.95, higher by 66.69 points, or 0.16 per cent.
