Mainland China’s CSI 300 gained 15.7 per cent this week, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was set for a weekly gain of 12.31 per cent, making it the best week for the index since February 1998, according to FactSet data, reported CNBC.
On Friday, the CSI 300 was 4.47 per cent higher, at 3,703.68, while the Hang Seng was up 3.23 per cent.
The rally in the Chinese markets comes as the People’s Bank of China has cut its 7-day reverse repurchase rate to 1.5 per cent from 1.7%, as well as slashed the reserve requirement ratio of financial institutions by 0.5 percentage points.
